CHAPTER THIRTY TWO: EYE CONTACT

[Akane's POV]
It was three days into the search for Tomo's parents. Although I didn't want to postpone my research on the principal and on headmaster, I figured that Tomo was my first priority in this situation.
"Ah.. I think I got it..", I mumble to myself just as the firewall was disabled. With the firewall disabled, I only need to crack the 16 digit code. As I began to scan numbers, a series of knocks rang from the door. Just as I grabbed and was about to shoot my dagger, "Don't you dare let go of that dagger", Mira's voice came from behind the door.
Setting the dagger down, I unlock the door for them. As they come in, I slightly glance around before locking the door once again.
"Geez, hurry up. It's not easy covering for you", Mira rolled her eyes. "Sorry for putting you through the trouble", Tomo apologized. Ruffling his hair, "it's fine".
" I'm gonna head out first", Mira said, getting up after staying for about an hour. "Why?", Akane asked, setting her eyes on the computer screen and keys. "Today we were assigned projects. Tch.. I wanna kill Lily at times--wait, all the time", she corrected herself. "Lily's your partner?", I raised a brow. "Tsk.. yea.. You're partners with Shin, so yea. Jin and Tomo are a pair, as well", she said, heading out. "Alright. See you later", I said as Mira left.

[Tomo's POV]
We sat in silence, only the clicking of her keyboard filled the quiet, yet comfortable, air. "..Neh.. Akane..", I mumbled as I laid on her bed. "Mm..?", she hummed in response.
"..What happened on our mission exactly 6 years, 2 months ago..", I asked, causing the clicking of keys to halt.
"...hm..?", she hummed once more. "..you're bad at lying, aha.. That mission.. what happened when we split up.. you stopped smiling, showing expressions.. you turned.. cold", I said, slowly.
"...Hm.. exactly 6 years and 2 months passed, hasn't it..?", she sighed, leaning back on her chair. "..I'll tell both you and Mira when the time is right.. deal?", she asked, looking over to me. "..deal..", I muttered.

[Akane's POV]
After about an hour, Tomo leaves to go do his project, and I begin my research on his family. It's a bit hard to track down a family you have no background information on, I just have to base everything on last name, physical features, and blood type.
About three hours go by and I'm going in circles. Who knew hundreds of people had the same last name and blood type, and look very similar.. wait, of course it'll be fken hard, it's the whole world. Tsk.. but it's for Tomo..
Just as I'm about to immerse myself back into work, a series of knocks cause me to pause myself. I quickly shut off my laptop and make my way to the door. With a turn from the knob, I find a familiar person standing in front of me. Shin.
"Project. Now", he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Come again?", I raised a brow. "Project. I don't care if you don't want to, but I'm not failing", he sighed. I couldn't help but notice his cheeks were slightly tinted, and he avoided all eye contact with me. I grab the collar of his black crewneck, pulling him down for eye level. His eyes widened and his cheeks began to flush.
"W-what the--", he utters. "..You're not looking at me in the eye", I sighed in annoyance.

A/N: GOMEN! I suddenly disappeared for a month and over because of grades DX butttt now I'm back. The only thing is, I may be updating slower and may miss an update or two, but please bear with me!
