SIAM's POV

I stood by the window staring at the land that laid behind the Johansen house. beyond the thick forest was a wide lake that Eric's late father had made for his wife. And Eric was kind enough to share with us during the wedding.

A smile found its way to my lips as I remember that day half a year ago.

To normal humans, they would have thought that this is all too fast, but to shifters, we're about just right  with the timeline.

Female shifters mate at 18, male mate at 19, marry if they found proper after a few months, then have children after a year or so.

Yes, child, my mother made it a point never to use the term pup as we technically never really passed through that stage and to call our kids pup was just primeval.

And, as usual, Serenity agreed saying that she'd tie me upside down- alpha or big brother or not- the moment I call one of our kids, hers in particular, as pup.

Thinking about Serenity now reminded me of when we were the children. How my dad would let us ride on his back and take us along with his and mom's run. we would hang out at a cliff for hours, until the moon is at its highest point.

Liam and his parents will always be with us, of course.

Those days, our worries were just where we would be hiding or what would we be playing next.

Then more kids arrived, male kids. The alphas' sons to be exact. And that's when Liam and I started to see that Serenity is different from us.

As soon as Anna came, she was no longer one of the boys. Anna see into that with the help of mom of course.

They'd dress her up and curl her hair which would drive Serenity mad until she turned 13 and started to gain her powers. A no was a no, period.

But Anna saw it differently. It was as if she had a death wish whenever she would force to dress her up. It came to the point where she would either lock Serenity's closet or lock her inside her walk in.

Serenity learned to bow to Anna, sometimes.

By fifteen. Anna became obsessed of the idea of mating. She would ask mom to tell her their love story again and again and Serenity, the guys and I would gag behind her.

Despite the boyish stage she was in, when boy shorts and baseball caps were her best clothes, it didn't make her invisible to the boys.

In fact I think what the boys loved about her is she was a challenge. And being my little sister, didn't help much. There's always one who was suicidal enough to ask her out. 

That was when we decided to just scare everyone away. I know it was unfair and almost heartless to not give her a chance to interact with humans.

But if I had to relive those days I will do all that all over again. If it meant that I will be keeping her away from douche and hunters. Yes for me there was no difference.
