"Thank you very much, Auntie Hana! I'll make sure Papa takes them properly!" You promised the Fourth Division captain from the other side of the doorway, holding the medication bag securely against your chest.

"Be careful on your way back, honey. And make sure he stays warm. The best way to break a fever is to sweat it out." Unohana reminded you.

You scratched your cheek and made an uneasy grin. "Papa might not like that, considering he likes the cold..."

Unohana smiled at you. "Just tell him I personally recommend it to him. If you say that, he'll definitely listen."

You gave a playful salute, oblivious to the captain's change in aura. "Whatever you say, ma'am. Well, if you would please excuse me. Thanks again!" You closed the sliding door and quickly made your way home to your father. Knowing him, he was probably looking for the paperwork you took and is in his futon angrily glaring at the ceiling after failing to find them.

That reminds you, you have to figure out what gifts to give the 7th Division. Komamura-taichō was so kind to take over the 10th's workload for the time being.

The thought of your father sulking and making plans to go gift shopping kept you occupied during your roof-hopping trip home until you reached the familiar building. You entered the home, took your sandals off, and closed the door behind you.

"I'm back, Papa!" You called out but received no answer.

"Must be sleeping." You said and then looked at the medicine in your hand. "I'll put these in his room and have him take them when he wakes up. Oh, I should also make him something to eat before he takes it."

You hummed a bit while walking to your dad's room and opened the sliding door. "I'll just put these next to his fu-... ...eh?" You stopped yourself when you saw a foreign man sitting politely on his knees next to your sleeping and perspiring father. You noticed that his futon was made of ice, as was the rest of the room.

The man stared at you for a while then bowed his head to you. "Welcome home, Sir."

You kept your mouth shut and continued staring at the man, unsure if you should scream, attack, or just walk away slowly. After a debate with yourself, you decided to say something. "U-Uhh, yea. I'm...I'm home. Um...Uh..., if you don't mind me asking, who are you and why is my Papa's room an igloo?"

"I'm Master's sword, Hyōrinmaru. I covered the room in ice to make Master comfortable."

"Huh......Is that so......?" You said, the strangeness of the situation making all of the feelings you should probably feel right now null and void.

However, that was only for a moment.

"Eh!? You kept him in the cold all this time!?" You entered the room and quickly but carefully made your way to your father's bedding. "Papa has a fever, the cold will only make it worst!"

"But Master dislikes the heat," Hyōrinmaru answered back, as cool as ever.

"Yes, I know! But in a situation like this-!"

"Mmmm," a voice interrupted you. You looked to where the voice came from to see your dad gradually raising his body from under the blankets. "is that (Y/N), Hyōrinmaru?"

"Yes, Master."

Tōshirō rubbed his eyes and looked towards you. His face was still red and sweating despite his icy room. "Welcome back, (Y/N)."

"Ah, I'm home, Papa." You answered back without thinking, a smile bright on your face. But you shook your head and came back to your senses. "Wait, not the time! Papa, please tell Hyōrinmaru-san to get rid of all this ice! It's not good for you!"

"The ice is fine," Tōshirō said. "It's too hot to be under all these covers."

"You're under covers because you're sick!" You argued against your father. "You have to break your fever and the only way to do that is to sweat it out!"

Your father huffed and went back under the covers. "No."

Why is the role between parent and child being switched right now!?

Forgotten and left in the same spot, Hyōrinmaru watched the stunts between father and son. While he believes he wasn't in the wrong for giving his Master what he wants, he can't ignore the boy's anxious attitude. A Zanpakutō can never go against a Shinigami, but maybe in this situation...

"Hm...I understand Sir (Y/N)," the ice dragon suddenly said, gaining the attention of the two people. "I shall rid the room of this ice."

"Really!?"

"Oi, Hyōrinmaru-!"

Forcing himself to neglect Tōshirō, Hyōrinmaru waved his hand around the room. At such a small move, the ice began melting into a haze. You quickly made your way to the windows and opened them to let all of it out.

Once the ice was all gone, the room immediately went back to room temperature, or boiling hot in the captain's case.

Grumbling and huffing like a child, the captain dropped down on his pillow. "Didn't think you had it in you to disobey me."

"Allow me to repent for that at a later date, Master. For now, please concentrate on getting better." Hyōrinmaru looked towards you trying to fan the mist out. "I...do not wish for him to be worried any longer."

Also looking towards you, Tōshirō's sweat-covered face soothed. You did have a rather troubled look, didn't you?

With a sigh, the small captain slowly brought up the heavy sheets and covered himself. "Fine, but I reserve the right to complain."

The ice dragon gave a low chuckle. "As you wish, Master."
