Savannah's POV

The dinner was great and when we just finished desert Parker cleared his throat.

"Mia I have a question to ask you" she turned to him and smiled

"Yes?"

"Mia Clark" he got down on one knee and opened a small box

"Will you marry me?"

"Oh my god yes!" Mia exclaimed "I love you so much" she muffled into his neck before he kissed her.

"I love you too" Mia came over and I gushed over the ring giving Mia a hug, we became friends while I was in the hospital. I looked over and saw Nate staring at me and I smiled which he returned and then awkwardly looked away. Everyone now knew what happened and the entire restaurant was clapping which made Mia turn bright red. Soon after we decided it was time to go back home so as everyone was getting their jackets and saying goodbye to Parker and Mia as they had to go tell her parents the good news. I was getting my jacket on and having troubles due to my crutches. I jumped when I felt someone's hands grab my jacket

"Need some help there beautiful?"

I turned to see a boy about my age with a sweet smile

"I would love some thanks" he helped me get my jacket on and I turned to face him

"So what's your name?" he asked

"I'm Savannah, you?"

"Sam" he responded "So you here with that group?" he pointed over to the Courts and I smiled

"Yeah, he just proposed did you see?"

"Of course, she looked happy"

"They're a cute couple" I agreed "So you here with your family?"

"No actually with my boyfriend, he just had to use the washroom"

"So you're..." I started but didn't want it to sound awkward he just laughed

"Yeah I'm gay"

"That's cool!" he just laughed more

"Yeah, he makes me happy" he had such a look of awe

"That's so cute!" I squealed "You know I've always wanted a gay best friend"

"Why so?"

"Are you kidding? Look at your fashion sense" I pointed to his perfect outfit "I guess I always hoped he could he me with mine"

"You're in a Lauren Court designed dress, girl I don't think your fashion sense is struggling"

"Oh no this was because I had to. Normally I'm in sweatpants and hoodies"

I felt an arm go gently around my shoulder "It's time to go now Sav" Nate said

I looked up and smiled giving a small nod before turning back around to Sam

"It was nice meeting you Sam"

"You too. We should hang out sometime" Nate's grip tighten around my shoulder

"I would love that" we exchanged numbers and Nate and I walked out to the car where everyone was already waiting. The ride back was silent mostly with Lauren and Andrew talking once and awhile. Once we got home Nate helped me up the stairs and into my room and he still hadn't said a word to me

"What did I do to piss you off this time?" I finally asked

"Are you going on a date with that guy?" he asked and I sighed

"No Nate, I'm not"

"Well it sure as hell looked like it"

"He's gay Nate! And besides why the hell do you care?!"

he didn't know what to say and stood there speechless

"Well?" I asked

"I'm sorry" he looked away from me and started towards the door, he walked out of my room and I felt bad but was too tired to go after him. I got into my pajamas and soon fell asleep.

I was coming home from school and collected the mail out of the wooden mailbox my dad had once made, I slowly walked up to the door preparing myself for what was gonna happen when I walked in. Sure enough there sat my dad in his old recliner that I once used to sit cuddled up against him in with a beer in his hand and I little baggie on the coffee table.

"You're late"

"I'm sorry" was my best response knowing now not to talk back

"What were you doing? Whoring around?"

"No da-" I couldn't bring myself to call him dad anymore "I was helping a teacher file some papers"

"Well this will teach you to no longer be late" with that he pulled off his belt and came towards me, I ran off to my room screaming

"Stop! Please! Leave me alone!"

"Savannah" Nate's voice said

I was shooked awaked

"Savannah hey it's okay" I bolted up and started crying, Nate cradled me in his arms as I sobbed "Hey shh you're okay"

"Thank you" I croaked

"Of course princess" He smiled "What was your nightmare about?"

I sighed "My dad" I said barely a whispered

"Savannah, he'll never hurt you again. I promise" I offered a small smile

"Well it's getting late, I should go back to bed" he got up and when I reached the door I called "Nate" he turned around

"Yes princess?"

"Stay" he smiled and walked back over to me climbing in behind me, I shuffled over closing the space there was between us and rested my head on his bare chest as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I felt content with the comfort and safeness he provided me smiling and nuzzling my head in closer I sighed and soon I let sleep take over me.
