Friday- April 5

Ace laid his head on my lap, groaning and whining. I was beginning to suspect that he was incredibly sick, he hadn't been guarding, eating, playing, or walking. Could dogs get depression?

Two robust knocks startled me. I stood up, opening the door lethargically. "Hey, Adrian."

"Do you have food." He waltzed into my house, greeting Ace before opening the fridge.

"Umm, sure. I have an apple, which is what you're supposed to be having anyway." He took a bite out of my last apple, patting me on the back.

"Whatever you say, now. What's the problem?"

I had called Adrian because he did have a car with a spot to put Ace, and maybe he could tell me what's wrong with him. "Well, Ace is acting weird."

Adrian glared at me. "I'm going to need more than that Revy, dogs usually act weird."

"I'm sorry Mister I have six dogs, but I can't really give you any details. He's just acting strangely."

Adrian sighed, rigging his temple. "Did his eating habit change?"

"Yes, he doesn't eat."

"Does he sleep more?"

"Almost as much as Yoongi."

"I'll take that as a yes... Do you spend time with him, take him out for walks, or play?"

"I try to, I take him on walks every morning and... Well... Alaric plays with him. There hasn't been a day I haven't thought of him and tried to interact. He also sleeps with me... So..."

"Has he been around dogs?"

"... Not in a long time."

"How long?"

"Too long."

"Okay... Why don't we take him to the vet first, then we can take him to a dog park or something."

"The thing is Adrian, he doesn't get along with other dogs, or at least, I don't think he does."

"Well, your opinion is completely biased, why don't we go to the vet, and see what they say."

"Fine..."

Time Skip

We made our way back from the Vet, I had to give this certain medicine to Ace and have him interact with dogs more frequently. The only person who had a dog was Ricky, the tattoo parlor. He always took his dog to work, placing the happy Pitbull at the entrance to greet everyone.

Adrian volunteered to take Ace, I was far too nervous to take the leash, and knew better than to give Ace the vibe of fear. He would immediately attack someone if he felt I was scared, but that only thing I was afraid of, is Ace himself. What if he hurts someone, or he gets hurt? That's my baby, basically, the only living thing that has never hurt me.

He has always stuck to my side, and I couldn't have him act up.

I stood outside, waiting for Adrian to call me in. I had hope in Ace, that maybe he would eventually behave, or maybe be a little shy at first. I tapped my foot, checking my phone.

Today is the day the boys have to behave themselves, the boss already knows I'm a little stressed, but I don't want him thinking that after a month of working, I was already asking for a break. I understand why Na-yeong would as for it, I mean, she's been working here longer; and I heard she was very good at her job, so she very well earns a break.

The problem is, I'm not sure about me, but what else could I do once the boys get their break? Nothing, so I might as well take one too.

"You can come in now." Adrian opened the door, I saw him holding onto an empty leash.

"Where Ace!?"

"He's inside, playing with the dog. What else?" I stared at him in disbelief, walking inside and seeing Ace play tug of war. I was in shock, he seemed like he was genuinely having fun.

"Hey, King Kaching, how's my favorite cop doing?"

"I'm fine, just a little confused." I sat next to him, staring at both dogs. Zeus, his dog, was playing well with Ace, and surprisingly, Ace looked younger when playing with Zeus.

"So, your dog is depressed?"

"Yeah, and I can't seem to have a solution to this problem. I don't think I can bring him here every day."

"I can pick him up."

I looked up at Ricky, "you live upstairs Ricky, you can't go all the way across the city to pick my dog up every day. They would waste a lot of gas and money. I can't leave him here either, I wouldn't have time to visit him and he won't live comfortably."

Ricky combed his beard, thinking. "What if you get a dog?"

"Another one? I don't think I can raise a puppy. I don't have time."

"Maybe save one from the shelter, they are usually in desperate need of homes. I got Zeus from there, and look how happy he is now." We turned to see Zeus sitting on Ace's nose, and my poor puppy would desperately try to get away from the smug Pitbull.

"He does look very pleased with himself."

"Yes, yes he does," Adrian agreed.

"So it's settled? You're going to get another dog?"

I thought about it, debating whether or not I could take care of another dog. If I would adopt one, it would have to be after whatever Na-yeong has planned for all of us.

"Maybe. Ricky, can you do me a favor?"

"Sure."

"Can you babysit Ace while my customers and I go on a two-week-long trip?" I wish I could take my phone out to text my father's hospital nurse. She had asked me a question earlier through my email, but I had stalled for time. It wasn't too important, so I felt it was alright for me to take some time to think about it.

"Two weeks?"

"Yeah, Ace and Zeus seem to have hit off well, and I'll pay for his food, obviously."

"That's not the problem, the problem is that maybe it's not the right time to leave him."

"He'll be fine, as long as you leave a shirt here for him to sleep with, he'll be fine for two weeks," Adrian confirmed.

"Oh, and Adrian, I'll leave you in charge for the week, and I expect full reports."

"What about the other week?"

"Give it to Adrian, you two better not disappoint." I pointed at him, glaring. He saluted with a smile.

"Yes, sir."

I rolled my eyes, of course, he was going to rub it in his two competitors faces.

Ace jumped on my lap, sitting down and smacking Zeus with his paw gently.

"Okay, it's settled then King Kaching, I'm temporarily taking care of Ace. Let's hope he doesn't sneak off to find you."
