"So, you play ball?" Lucas asked Gabe and handed him a bat. He started up the ball dispenser.
"Youth baseball league back in Denver," Gabe replied. He swung his bat at an incoming ball and hit a home run.
"Nice one bro!"
"Thanks, batter up! #28." He and Lucas switched spots.
"So, how long have you played ball?" Gabe asked him.
"Since 7th grade, star player. You?" Lucas answered.
"Since I was 10, youth baseball league." He started up the ball dispenser. Lucas took a swing and missed.
"Ugh! How did I miss?!"
"Maybe something's on your mind."
"Like?"
"Two words: Riley Matthews."
"Don't speak of her!"
"Woah, what happened?"
"Ever since Avery came back, my feelings started becoming unreadable."
"So you did know her."
"Of course, I mean, how could I ever forget?"
"Then why did you pretend not to know her?"
"To push away old feelings."
"Well that didn't work."
"Obviously. What do I do now?"
"You're asking me? Oh shoot, I'm not good at this touchy-feely stuff."
"Well, just try. Please. The girls, I can't go to them right now."
"Okay. Well, just figure out your feelings."
"Easier said than done. How do I figure them out?"
"Take time to yourself, and listen to your heart. Ooh that was pretty good!"
"Haha, it was. And I'll try to find myself again."
"Good."
"Let's take a break, we've been swinging for an hour straight."
"Yeah, icecream?"
"Cha!"
They raced to the icecream truck and ordered their frozen treats. While sitting down, they went on social media. Lucas started unfollowing Riley, Avery and Maya. Gabe scrolled through his feed, his jaw dropped open when he saw Maya's post. Then it dropped more when he saw Riley's. "Dude! Look at this! What happened?" He exclaimed. Lucas glanced over and his eyes widened.

"What have you done indeed," Gabe agreed.
Yay Chapter 27 is up! And I know it was really short, so I'll be publishing another chapter tomorrow.
