Chapter 23 : Emotions

"I thought, I will need to forcefully drag you out of your haven just so you will come with me tonight."

"You know, I cannot do that. I am so indebted to you."

He laughed, his chinky eyes almost turning into a thin line, "How can you pay me, then?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know, you almost have everything. What else do you need?"

He tugged my loose strands of hair beneath my ear, "You're so beautiful, Kara. Be my girlfriend... again."

"You gotta be kidding me, Max. I can't---"

Max replied curtly, "Of course, you can't, especially now that your most loved ex-boyfriend is looking at us, as if he's throwing hundred of daggers at me."

Sandali kong tiningnan ang mukha nito at napansin kong nakatingin ito sa bandang likuran ko. "What? My ex-boyfriend?"

Tila natawa naman ito sa confusion ko, "Whoa? Do you really have that much ex-boyfriends? I thought it's just me and---"

"We were never official," I quickly corrected him.

"Aw. That hurts. Alright, I am talking about Ambrosia."

Si Lexus? I silently asked myself.

"Yup, he's here." And my horror has been confirmed.

It has been three days since we parted without any word. I still haven't forgiven him, or at least that's what he thought, sa ginawa nitong pag-prank sakin!

"Are you back together?" sunod namang tanong nito sa akin.

Mabilis naman akong umiling.

"That's weird."

"Why weird?" I asked.

In one swift move, he held me at my waist and shifted our position. He moved his face closer to me and his mouth at my right ear.

"Can you see him now?"

At nagpalinga-linga ako.

"Damn! Don't be too obvious!" sita nito sa akin.

Muli naman itong nagsalita, "It's weird how he is looking at us like a jealous man in love but you said you're not together..."

"He is not jealous and he is definitely not in love with me." Madiin ngunit mahina kong sagot dito. Habang sinasabi ko iyon ay hindi ko maiwasan makaramdam ng bitterness and hope... hope na mali ako.
