Kaneki's POV (It's been a lot!)

Me and (f/n) headed back to the Base, and went in my room. I couldn't help but look at the expression on her face. It was a mixture of relief, happiness and also guilt.

I wonder what she's thinking.

Suddenly, she slapped her forehead.

"Ah, my door is still broken!" she exclaimed.

I looked at her, then looked away. I wanted to ask so badly, but it was too awkward. But I decided to ask anyway.

If I don't ask, I won't get an answer.

"If you feel uncomfortable with that... You could... Sleep here? I can sleep on the chair" I said, still looking away. I almost could feel her blushing, and forced myself to not blush as well: I didn't want to show any sign of weakness.

Finally, I gained enough courage to look at her reaction.

Her eyes were wide open and, as expected, she was blushing a bit. I smiled mentally, as I remembered the first time I had met her, and how cute she was. We had been through a lot, after that, but she was still the same cute girl.

My thoughts were interrupted when she slowly nodded, and the two of us stayed in an awkward silence.

Then she cleared her throat.

"I... I'm going to sleep then" she said and I nodded. I sat on the chair and she lay down on the couch.

I looked up at the ceiling, and slowly passed out.

"Agh!"

I was in total pain.

"S-stop!"

Memories kept coming back into my mind.

"I... I have to get stronger... Stronger! To... To protect the people of Anteiku... And (f/n)..."

(f/n)'s smiling face popped up.

"I have to protect her..."

I was in a sea of blood, and all I could see was red.

"Kaneki~"

Rize was getting out of the red sea, Yamori following.

"N-no!"

They were making their way to my face...

.

My eyes shot opened and I sat straight on the chair, panting heavily.

Just... A dream.

I put my hands on my face.

Now I understand. It... It's me who's being devoured!

I looked at the couch, to see that (f/n) was still sleeping. It was a good thing, because I didn't want her to worry.

I stood up, but I couldn't help but peek at her. I slowly walked to her and crouched in front of her.

Her face looked relaxed, and her lips were a little apart. I raised a hand and brushed a strand of hair from her face.

She moved a bit and I froze, but then she just turned to the other side.

I sighed and decided to make coffee for the both of us.

Your POV

That night, you couldn't sleep well: too many thoughts were in your mind.
