I open my eyes and I'm in my room. I remember everything all at once. The pain, hitting Jack with the black sand, running out the back door, finding Pitch, fighting him, and falling on the snow.

I groan as I feel a sharp pain in my head. I feel cold hands against my hair, stroking it.

"Jack," I whisper.

" I'm here," he says back.

"What happened?"

"Well," he begins. "First you ran away from me. I began looking everywhere. Then I heard Pitch laugh and I thought he'd taken you. I guess I was wrong because when I got there you looked normal and he was curled up on the snow." He smiles. "He's in custody at North's right now."

I smile. "So I did it? I stopped him?"

"Yes, but you almost killed yourself while doing it. So let's not try it again."

"No promises," I say and smile widely.

I turn my head and see that it's dark out. "What time is it?" I ask.

He looks out the window. "Four A.M" he says. "You've been out for a few hours. Your mom thinks you're just really sick because you've been sleeping."

"I was sick." I whisper.

Jack smiles widely. He leans down a kisses me gently. "Yes you were. Now get some rest and feel better so we can have fun, best friend." He kisses me again and lays beside me, playing with my hair until I fall asleep.
