6:26 a.m.
Its been an hour since the Death Eaters have retreated and everyone is still in the Great Hall, mourning or helping the injured in some way. Athena is now sitting next to Charlie, her head resting on his shoulders and her eyes closed. Her hair is now pulled back into a ponytail and her cheeks are dirty with a mixture of blood, both hers and someone else's, and dried tears.
She opens her eyes when her hand is squeezed by Charlie's, who fingers are intertwined with hers. She returns the squeeze before moving her head to press a kiss to his shoulder then return her head to it's resting position. Neither one of them say anything, they don't need to or want to.
"What's that?" Seamus says loudly, causing some of the voices to stop talking and turn towards him and watch as he walks outside, where the sun is continuing to rise. Soon, a few people are slowly following, the rest of the Weasleys close behind Seamus. Charlie and Athena stand, silently deciding to go see what is happening.
They stand on top of the stairs leading to the courtyard, ignoring the dead bodies as best as possible. Athena leans into Charlie's body while his arm is wrapped around her back and resting on her hip. They both watch as Voldemort and his Death Eaters get closer and Athena could easily recognize Hagrid among them, bound by ropes and carrying a body.
"Charlie.." she whispers, nodding towards Hagrid, worry and exhaustion in her voice.
"I know," he replies in a soft voice and the pair return to silence and watch as Ginny and Arthur walk closer to Neville.
"Who is that Hagrid's carrying?" Ginny asks, her voice shaking, as Voldemort and his forces stop once they're in the courtyard, "Neville, who is it?" though she is answered with silence from the brunette carrying the sorting hat.
"Harry Potter," Voldemort yells, pausing for effect, "is dead!"
"No! No!" Ginny immediately yells, beginning to run towards Voldemort when her dad pulls her back. Athena lets out a gasps and closes her eyes while Charlie pulls her closer to him, hand rubbing up and down her back as the rest of the school, Order, and Hogwarts staff react to Harry's death.
"Silence!" Voldemort orders sternly, "Stupid girl. Harry Potter is dead," by now, the rest of the Great Hall is joining them, "from this day forth, you put your faith...in me,"
Voldemort then turns and walks hurriedly towards the Death Eaters before raising his arms and yelling, "Harry Potter is dead!" in a triumphant voice, causing them all to laugh, including Voldemort himself. The Dark Lord then turns back to the school's defenders, "and now is the time to declare yourself. Come forward and join us! Or die,"
Silence is Voldemort's answer as no one moves, until Lucius Malfoy calls out to Draco, urging him to come. Athena looks to her left and sees Draco, looking conflicted before walking over to his parents, though only after his mother called for him. Everyone watches in silence as Draco stops in front of Voldemort.
"Ah. Well done, Draco," Voldemort says, a smile on his pale white skin, opening his arms, embracing Draco in an awkward hug, "well done," Draco is soon released and heads straight for his parents. Voldemort then turns back to the survivors as Neville limps towards the Death Eaters.
"Well, I must say I'd hope for better," Voldemort says, causing his army to laugh, "and who might you be, young man?" he takes a few steps closer to Neville, who is staring at the stone ground.
"Neville Longbottom," he replies and the Death Eaters laugh again, even Voldemort cracks a smile.
"Well, Neville, I'm sure we can find a place for you in our ranks,"
"I'd like to say something," Neville says loudly, looking over at Voldemort, who seems a bit irritated now, but manages to calm down.
"Well, Neville, I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear what you have to say,"
"It doesn't matter that Harry died," Neville begins.
"Stand down, Neville," Seamus snaps from nearby and Neville turns towards Seamus.
"People die everyday," Neville retorts, "Friends, family. Yeah. We lost Harry tonight. But he's still with us, in here," he then motions to his heart, "so's Fred, and Remus. Tonks. All of them. They didn't die in vain," Neville then turns back to Voldemort, "but you will! Because you're wrong!"
At this point Voldemort is smiling, perhaps chuckling but Athena was too far away to hear it, "Harry's heart did beat for us!" Neville continues, voice getting louder, "For all of us! This is not over!" and he pulls out a sword from the sorting hat and at the same moment, Harry's body falls out of Hagrid's arms and onto the ground, before getting back up and shooting fire at Voldemort's snake, which bounces back and hits a group of Death Eaters.
Athena can't help but laugh as she draws her own wand, her and Charlie backing away and into the Great Hall again with the rest of the students, Order, and staff. Voldemort, however, looks shocked and enraged as he sends fire at a retreating Harry. Some Death Eaters retreat, including the Malfoys, while others follow Voldemort in for an attack.
Charlie turns and deflects a killing curse shot towards him and Athena. Meanwhile, Athena sends fire at a nearby Death Eater, managing to hit him and causing him to burn before he retreats.
Athena turns and deflects another curse while Charlie takes down a few more Death Eaters. This process goes on; them both defending each other while attacking any nearby Death Eaters. The pair soon spot Mr and Mrs Weasley with George, Percy, and Ginny. Athena freezes momentarily as Ginny barely defends herself from an attack from Bellatrix Lestrange. Charlie and Athena hurry over to his family when Mrs Weasley takes her daughter's place in front of Bellatrix, who laughs.
But her laughter is cut short by Mrs Weasley barely hitting her with a spell. Bellatrix then sends several spells at the woman, who deflects them with speed. Bellatrix manages to get one more laugh in before Mrs Weasley hits her with a spell that constricted Bellatrix's body before it was exploded by another spell cast by Mrs Weasley.
"You're mother is badass," Athena whispers to Charlie, who chuckles in reply. A few more minutes of fighting follows Bellatrix's demise, and eventually, any remaining Death Eaters retreat after one of them informs the others of Voldemort's death.
8:04 a.m.
Everyone is, once again, in the Great Hall where they are either looking for loved ones, getting healed for their injuries, relaxing, or mourning. Barely anyone speaks, those who do speak are speaking in hushed voices, as not to disturb those sleeping.
Athena is sitting on one of the tables, her left shoulder and her head lean against the wall beside her as her fingers run through Charlie's hair. Charlie is currently lying on the table, asleep, with his head resting on her lap. Athena smiles down at her boyfriend before looking around the hall.
Ginny and the rest of the Weasleys sit nearby to her and Charlie, Percy catching up with his family after ignoring them for his job. Athena's eyes land on Harry, who is walking away from her. Athena then looks down at her boyfriend once more, her smile widening.
He survived. They both survived. And she will be forever grateful for that fact.
