Jungkook stared at the new contact in his phone in awe. Tae, it was a cute nickname. After everything that had happened that afternoon, he hadn't expected Taehyung to tell him to save his number permanently. He thought that the elder would simply walk away and forget what had happened, some part of him wished he would. In the weirdest turn of events, Taehyung ended up staying with him instead.

They stood outside for a long time, Taehyung simply hugging the younger, comforting him with the slightest of touches. It was as if the cold didn't affect them anymore. Jungkook was burning up either way due to his anxiety, but Taehyung didn't complain about the cold no matter how frozen his fingertips became as they threaded through Jungkook's hair. He just held the younger closer and whispered sweet nothings to him until Jungkook felt calm enough to finally let go.

He felt his heart flutter just at the memory of it, but it wasn't in anxiety like he was used to. Every time he was together with Taehyung his breathing would slow down and his heart rate would pick up, all in the best way possible. He knew that as long as he was in the elder's grip he would be alright. It was as if even words weren't needed, Taehyung just knew what he was going through like nobody else managed to do.

It was selfish of Jungkook to want him to stay. There was nothing but menace in his path with the thousands of demons following him around, looking for the right angle to strike. Staying with him would only put the elder in danger. He knew nothing good would come from them being together.

Still, the younger couldn't help but feel glad that Taehyung had left a way to contact him, even if he would never allow himself to use it. It made him feel like there was someone there for him, just one click away, a human in the chaos surrounding him filled with demons and angels. In the end, the gesture was only a painful reminder to the fact that he was a danger to everyone he cared for. That day had proven it to him.

Jungkook couldn't help but wish for some way out. He wanted a world in which he wasn't constantly chased by his nightmares and where he could live life like everyone else. He had wished that since the moment he realised others couldn't see the world as he could, but he never got it. He couldn't help but feel all alone. After all, there was no other human dealing with the same things he was, no other creature could see what he could see and feel what he could feel. Even his mother dismissed it as soon as he ever mentioned anything about angels or demons. Namjoon was the only person he could talk to about the biblical creatures without getting weird looks, still, he could never tell the complete truth to him.

Taehyung was different. He didn't look at him like he was holding a secret. His eyes held empathy, not sympathy or menace like he was used to. It seemed like the elder could understand him without words. Maybe Jungkook had finally found his way out.

Suddenly he got shaken out of his thoughts. The aura in the room shifted within a moment, as if a breeze ran through the room. The feeling was familiar, yet different. It was as if the usual innocence and harmlessness were blemished, maybe ripped, as if the purity of his soul had been disregarded and it had fallen ever so slightly into the void. It wasn't enough to make it demonic by far, but enough to make Jungkook's heart drop the smallest amount. Only when the younger looked up he recognized the man before him completely.

"Where were you?" Jungkook demanded, hurt evident in his voice. He was still shaken by the demon in the restaurant earlier. The black eyes had never left his thoughts, having burned holes into his soul permanently.

"Heaven, I told you," Jimin said in a confused tone. He sat down on the bed next to the younger, immediately sensing something was wrong.

"Then why didn't you come as you promised?" the human asked him with a cracking voice. Jimin rose an eyebrow in confusion, taking a moment to assess the younger's emotions.
