Ember

Orange on
Grey on
The blackness behind.
The heat wavers,
Uncertain of itself
As the oxygen it feeds on
Slowly kills it.
It glows long after
Its energy is spent.
Slowly, the ember goes out.
Rekindle me.
I provide warmth for you,
But the one who burns
Also needs provided for
Or it will go out.
