Things We Used To Share

Hunt

Yuki frowned as Hiro told his story, wanting to play.

"Let's play!"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I'm reading."

"But you said that hours ago."

"Go ask Kaname."

"He's busy."

"Well, so am I."

She folded her arms, sinking into the couch.

"Butthead." She said, sticking out her tongue.

"Booger." He retorted.

"You two are such brats."

Their father stood behind them, hand on his cheek as he smiled.

"Hiro's being mean to me! He says we can't play outside."

"He's right. It's too cold for children." He said, ruffling her hair.

He smiled at his victory, and she blew a raspberry at him.

"What about a game?"

"What kind of game?" Yuki asked.

"A Scavenger Hunt."

"What's that?"

"I'm going to hide some things throughout the house. Whoever finds the most things wins."

"Wins what?" They both asked.

"Hmm...I don't know."

Kaname walked into the room, eyebrows raised as they lookes to him.

"What's going on?"

"We're going on a Scab Hunt!" Yuki said.

"Scavenger." He corrected.

Juri walked in behind Kaname, smiling.

"That sounds like fun. How about this: You all have to find me." She said. "Split into teams!"

Hiro and Kaname sweatdropped. She was too into this...

"Kaname and Yuki, Haruka and Hiro! Wait twenty minutes, then come find me."

And with that, she ran off.

Twenty minutes later, they syarted off in different directions, Yuki and Hiro glaring at each other before declaring they'd be the winners.

"Where do you think she is?" His father asked.

Hiro placd a hand on his chin, thinking.

"...I don't know."

Haruka smiled, lifting him up placing Hiro on his shoulders.

"Let's check every room, Hiro."

"Okay!"

Kaname and Yuki had started on the first floor, whereas Haruka and Hiro started from the third.

Hiro liked days liked these.

When they were together, and happy.

"Where could she be..?"

Another twenty minutes had passed, and it seemed like she wasn't in it.

"...I think she's moving around." Hiro said. "She's traveling."

"Smart boy." His father said before they both heard slight movement.

They gave eachother a nod, going to the source and finding a closet.

"Found you-" Haruka froze, seeing a note on the door

"...'Close, but not close enough, hahaha'..." Hiro read.

That's just plain rude.

"She can't be that far off." Haruka said, fully determined to find her now.

Ten more minutes tick by, the two rivals paasing one another.

Juri sat in the living room, listening as the moved around upstairs.

Little did she know, Hiro had snuck up on her, Haruka and him planning on distracting her.

"Caught you!" He said, pointing to her like an attorney.

She froze, laughing.

"Alright, alright. You win." She smiled.

Yuki was devastated.

But, being the good older brother he was, he gave his win to Yuki.

He honestly just wanted to make up for her nightmare, and not make her cry. 

He would've asked for a new book, but he couldn't do it.

Especially when they both appeared, covered in his mother's notes.

She wanted a pony, but had to pick something smaller.

"How about a rose?" Kaname asked.

She nodded quickly, and they spent the rest of the day together.
