I actually understand the reasoning behind this ship, but it won't work no matter how ya slice it. As mentioned earlier, Hinata is a delicate flower and needs affection. Gaara, though no longer a murderous sociopath with uncontrollable bloodlust, is a bit rough and doesn't really know the entire love thing works. Hinata might be able to teach him, but she's incredibly shy so I don't see that happening.
