"Why did you hire me?" I asked Daniella as I sat around doing nothing for the tenth day in a row.

"Did you not want to be hired?"

"No no, of course I did. I'm just wondering if this had anything to do with the River case."

Daniella slightly smirked, "You're smarter than you look."

"So you really did hire me because of River."

"River is the most stubborn person I have met in my life and when he wants something to go his way, he'll make sure it does. He doesn't want me investigating this case so I thought maybe you would be able to convince him."

"But that clearly didn't work."

Daniella looked at me and rolled her large, gorgeous green eyes once again before returning to her work.

"Just continue going through the case files I gave you and write a report on all of them. River will come around sooner or later."

And that was how my tenth day with Daniella went by.

My eleventh day was not any better. I groaned as I ran downstairs to meet with Barbara. Apparently she had some papers Daniella needed.

"You're so lucky!" one of the nurses giggled up at me.

"Why?"

"What do you mean why?" another questioned, as she pointed behind me.

I turned to see Theo talking to one of the doctors.

"He's insanely gorgeous. How do you concentrate with him around all the time?" Nurse Sasha sighed.

"Every time I see him, the only thoughts in my head are thirst-inducing thoughts," another giggled.

I couldn't help but laugh at them. I turned to examine Theo and couldn't help but agree.

"You're right, he's really handsome," I said as I took in his curly black hair, baby brown eyes and lusciously tanned skin. "He looks like he could be a main in a Mexican soap opera."

The nurses behind me groaned, "I heard Mexican's are really good in bed," Sasha whispered. "I want to volunteer myself to him to test it out."

"Sasha," I whisper growled in a sarcastic way, "how could you have such rated thoughts?"

The nurses all giggled.

"Don't act so innocent," another of the nurses joked. "What girl would think twice if he were to offer himself to her?"

I turned back to look at Theo. Would I really? He was definitely a sexy man but I had nothing but innocent thoughts in my mind. Especially after knowing what a dope he was, I couldn't help but think of him as nothing but a friend. And no, not friends with benefits type of friend, just a friend.

My thoughts somehow ended up drifting to River, making my heart race as blood also rushed to my face. I gulped at the thoughts that were infiltrating my mind. What was wrong with me? Why was my brain coming up with such dirty scenarios? And why River out of everyone?

"See?" Sasha said. I shook my head to clear it of all thoughts as I turned to the nurse. "You're all red," she wriggled her eye brows at me, "just what was our innocent girl thinking."

"Ha ha," I rolled my eyes. "I was actually thinking about what I would have for dinner tonight,'' I lied.

The nurses all laughed, very well aware of my lie.

"Ladies," a deep voice suddenly greeted us, somehow opening a bag of butterflies at the same time in my stomach. Feeling too ashamed by my previous thoughts, I couldn't face him but his simple presence behind me made me feel warm all over. The way I was feeling really confused me. I just couldn't understand why I was feeling this way but what confused me even more was the fact that I wasn't even upset about the way I felt. I liked the feeling and somehow that confused me even more.

Before River could even say another word, I bolted away, trying my absolute hardest not to look back.
