Chapter 19

In the seventeen almost eighteen years of my life not once had I'd ever had a kiss close to that. To say Grayson was a good kisser was an understatement.

Our lips met slowly, disregarding the flashing camera lights or anything else in that matter. It was slow and sweet just before he pulled away for a moment, pausing as if to ask for more consent.

With no words exchanged, I nodded slightly and pulled him back in.

Just like that, we had changed the moment to something entirely different.

Something a lot more passionate and meaningful.

Neither of us wanted to stop, but of course, we needed air. We stayed quiet as we both pulled away, our heavy breaths filling the void.

"Wow." Gray mumbled slightly, "That was just...wow"

"Yea..." I muttered, my breathing finally stabilizing.

Remembering that we were still on a ride that had begun moving again, I climbed off the seat and crawled over to the opposite side of the carriage.

As dark as it was outside, I couldn't help but try to hide a laugh as I watched his eyebrows furrow before reassuring him, "For stability safety reasons you were going on about earlier today."

"You're never gonna let me live that down huh?" He groaned, smiling as he looked at me, "I could care less about the stability of this thing right now. We were on the same side earlier and we were both fine.

"I don't think the operator would say the same." I shrugged, touching his shoe with my own.

It was an impromptu game of footies that the two of us enlisted into to keep us occupied.

"You know?" I started, smiling at him, "You're not half bad."

He gives me a toothy grin back before grabbing my hand as we got off the ride, "At kissing or in general?"

"Both," I reply, tightening my grasp on his hand.

"I like you too Mae." Grayson answered, "A lot."

"I can't believe I'm saying this." I said in disbelief as I turned to him, "but yea, I like you too."

It was as if we had a little secret that no one knew of, all to ourselves.

"Oh my god, this picture is so cute!" The fair worker said as she rang us up for the photo of we decided to purchase of the kiss captured on the Ferris Wheel.

Grayson decided that since we already had the keychains, we should each get a visible image two have keepsakes of both of the kisses we shared; the first one and the first real one.

Despite having forgotten about the picture at the moment, it turned out beautiful.

Like a scene in a movie, I couldn't help but stare at it in shock.

I was turning into the very type of girl that I said I wasn't going to be.

And I wasn't regretting it at all.

I blushed as Grayson thanked the girl, most likely in her college years; not much older than us.

"I wish my boyfriend was that romantic!" She squealed before handing us two copies of the picture.

I couldn't help but see her point.

It was a sight alright.

A fairly intimate moment that she happened to witness because of her job, despite probably knowing that we were breaking the Ferris Wheel rules by doing so.

My embarrassment was hidden by the dark night as we waved goodbye to her after paying and pocketing the pictures.

"What now?" He said. I laughed, knowing that we had been on every ride.

"WE EAT COTTON CANDY DUH!" I yelled, causing Gray to fake a heart attack.

"Jesus woman, you almost burst my eardrum." He teases as I drag him to the line.

"The only way to finish a carnival night properly is with a high dose of spun sugar," I instructed, "Consume enough until you feel like you can't move. Those are the rules."

"Hi, what would you like today?" The cashier asked, clearly tired after a long day.

"Two cotton candies," I tell him, smiling as I point to the large ones at the back. The cashier nods as he proceeded to get them.

As he turns around, I could feel Grayson's arms snake around my waist before resting his chin on my neck.

"We're in public!" I whisper, smacking him lightly as I attempted to shake him off before the cashier turned around.

Reluctantly, he let go just in time but not before he pressed a slight kiss on my neck and smiled a cheesy grin, "Couldn't help it."

"$8.50 will be your total." The guy tells me, handing me the two bags filled with the sugary confection.

I looked at Grayson in amusement as before turning to the cashier and handing over a $10 bill, telling him to keep the change as Gray grabbed the bags.

We walked over to a table that had dim lighting just under the fair lights that were strung diagonally from stand to stand.

I watched him as he began opening both bags, handing one to me before opening his.

"What?" He asks, his eyes attempting to read my thoughts. I can feel his eyes on me, twinkling in satisfaction but I try to ignore it.

Keyword: try

"Nothing," I replied, shaking my head as I reach into the bag to tear off a piece.

Without knowing, Grayson surprised me, being much more affectionate than I would've ever expected or seen him.

His 'love language' as it was called was obviously physical touch which intrigued me. Perhaps though, it made sense since it wasn't a secret that he had been with plenty of girls before.

What was I getting myself into?

"Do you really eat your cotton candy like that?" A voice rings me out of my thoughts.

As I look to him across the table, Grayson sits there and stares, confused.

"Eat it like what?" I question, picking up a piece and letting it dissolve in my mouth, "There's only one way to eat cotton candy?"

"You're just letting it dissolve on your tongue." He points out again as I nod.

"How else would you eat it? You can't chew this shit." I laugh but stop the moment he looks at me seriously.

"You can't be—" I begin right before he cuts me off and does the most pet-peeve-inducing thing known to man.

Grayson Christensen is chewing his cotton candy.

Right in front of me.

"I think I hate you." I chuckle as his face changes, "What are you chewing even? Air?"

"You can chew it," He argues, "That's how you eat other things too."

"But when cotton candy touches your saliva, it disintegrates." I state in shock, "How would you even chew cotton candy?"

"Like this." He tells me, picking up a piece before putting it in his mouth and doing the most obnoxious chewing motions I've ever seen.

"You're lying." I laugh, "Out of everything I've learned about you today, this is where I draw the line and say something ain't right."

We laugh it off and continue on with our own methods of eating the candy floss, exchanging words here and there as we enjoyed our night together.

All I knew was that it was sometime around midnight but it was one of the best nights I've had in a while.
