I slowly turned to look at Damon as he entered inside. “What do you want?” I asked, more rudely than I ever meant it to be. “I actually wanted to say sorry for what happened back there.” Damon said, lowering his gaze to the floor. I immediately felt sorry for getting angry but I kept my tone that way and said, “What happened back where?” “Uh…well…I said a lie to you that I found you on the road but well I didn’t. I found you back at your home. You fainted in the middle of the room. You looked in a pretty bad condition. So I didn’t tell anything to you in the morning knowing that if I had told you everything then you would be upset. And you had just gotten better, so I thought against telling you anything…” I sat up at once and looked at him. “But you could have told me the truth too. I would prefer being told the truth than hearing lies.” I said immediately feeling guilty to have said that. Why was I being so harsh? He was the one who saved you, Kristen Rogers! You better be thankful for that. If someone else would have been there, they would have left you to die. You would have deserved that better! Damon came forward and looked at me sternly, “NO, YOU DON’T!” He suddenly realized what he had said and left my hands. He stepped backwards and looked down. What was that? I thought. “You okay?” I asked him. “Not really…I gotta go!” Before I could say anything he bolted out of the door. “DAMON!” I shouted after him but he was gone. I stood like that for a while then quickly walked out of the door. I looked around for Damon. He wasn’t anywhere. I sighed, “Great, now I upset him. Kudos, Kristen! You did a great thing.” I was shocked at my own sarcasm. I walked back to my room and crawled into my bed. “Ugh! So much for kindness.” I slowly turned my head to the side and stared at my dress still hanging on the dresser. It was dry now. Damon had cared to dry it, and I shouted at him just now! I hate myself for doing that.

I moved slowly in the bed and looked around. Salvatore house? I thought. Then it all suddenly came back to me. I pushed my bed sheets and got out of the bed. I tidied the bed. Yes, old habits die hard! I saw a gown lying on the shelf. What was it for? It was so beautiful. Was it meant for me? I wondered. Then I turned to see my clothes lying beside it. I walked over to them. I picked ‘em up and changed into ‘em. I walked out weakly thinking about what had happened yesterday. I saw Damon doing something in the kitchen, his back turned towards me. “Damon?” I ventured weakly. He turned around and smiled, “Oh, you’re up.” “Damon…I need to talk to you.” I said. “What do you mean?” he said confused. “Something about yesterday.” I said as he slowly shifted his legs and looked at me. “Whatever happened yesterday, just forget it, Kris. I made a mistake.” He said. I widened my eyes. This was the first time he had called me Kris. He never did. He always called me Kristen. Not that we talked that often until required. “Mistake? You didn’t make a mistake. It was just me who was over thinking things. I mean whatever you did was for my own good right? And I shouted at you? I was wrong. Not you. And I just wanted to say sorry.” I confessed. “You don’t have to! It was all my fault.” He said. “No way!” I shouted. He remained quite; probably because he was shocked at the change in my behavior. I walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, “Whatever happened yesterday, it is past. Let’s just forget about it. Promise one thing to me that you will never feel guilty over it okay? It’s history. Please just for me…” I hugged him. One thing I had never done. He was shocked at what was happening. After awhile, when he had finally come to his senses, he put his arms around me and held me tight. “Yes, of course. And you too promise me one thing that we’re gonna be friends till the end.” He whispered slowly. I let go of him and looked into his eyes. I searched for the friendliness in him. I mean, as far as I knew Damon, he wasn’t that friendly types. He kept much to himself. It was with Stefan that he was the most close with. But me, out of everyone? I was shocked at this sudden change in Damon. He suddenly realized what he had said and moved a bit away and changed the topic, “Well, you better have breakfast till it’s hot. And today’s dish is a little more creative.” I smiled and looked at the dish. Pasta. Aw…he thought it was creative. Well he was a guy, so that pretty much explained why he thought pasta was creative. He looked a bit ashamed. I quickly remarked, “Well, I don’t exactly get chef of the year award either. I always prepare light things for breakfast and have my lunch and dinner outside.” He smiled a bit and sat down. “You won’t eat?” I asked. “I already had breakfast.” He said looking away. “Oh okay…” I said taking a bite of the pasta. Actually, it was pretty creative. I couldn’t do much with a pasta. He had overcome me. I swallowed every bit of pasta that was on the plate and looked at Damon. He was pretty amazed at how I had gobbled down everything. He smiled at me quite proud of himself. “Yeah right! Lose that smile.” I giggled. “You did notice aha…” he remarked. “Get lost!” I hit his arm playfully. “Why?” he teased back. “Cause…uh…well…I dunno! I don’t wanna talk to you…go away!” I said crossing my arms and fake frowning. “Aw…I’m sorry alright?” he said looking at me. “No…” I stayed that way. “Sorry!” he said in baby like voice. I just stayed still. He quickly put his arms around me and lifted me up in the air. “Ouch! Put me down!” I screeched chuckling. “Oh no…I won’t!” he winked at me slowly bringing me down to his face. I looked at him, taking in his features. He had a smirk on his face as he tried to lift me up again. “Leave me!” I said again. “No way…first talk to me then I’ll leave you.” he said. “Ugh! Whatever! I’ll talk…now leave me!” I shouted. “Hmm…” he wondered. “What hmm?” I asked irritated. “Well, if you’re whining so much then I guess I should leave you after all.” He replied. “WHAT THE HELL! GO AWAY! I DON’T WHINE! NOT IN MY NINETEEN YEARS HAVE I EVER WHINNED! GO TO HELL!” I shouted taken aback. “Whoa! Chill girl! I’ll leave you…” saying he left me and turned around pretending not to laugh. “Just stop laughing…ugh!” I said disgusted. I pummeled his hand and pushed him on the ground. Then I quickly jumped on him and prevented his means of getting up. “Now you’ll see who’ll whine!” I said planting a smooth punch on his face. I made sure it wasn’t too hard and punched him again. “Go on! Punch me even harder. I don’t care.” He said sticking out his tongue. “Yeah right! You’ll regret even saying that once I’m done with you.” I said confidently. In my excitement, I hit him a little more harder than usual; not even noticing that I had hit his eye indeed. He groaned slowly. “Oh my God! Damon? Are you okay? I didn’t mean to hurt you. Oh darn! All thanks to me, you’re officially hurt.” I said looking shocked and surprised. Forgetting his pain he laughed, “You know Kristen Rogers, you’re the most funniest girl I’ve ever met in my 24 yrs.” “Well I’m glad I amuse you…” I said rather taken aback at his outburst. But he was right. The way I formed my sentences always got everyone cracking up. But I thought it was good for a while until Damon remembered his pain. He slowly placed a finger on his eye and joked, “Well now I think you’ve kept your word! That was one hard punch! You are a girl or what?” “Of course, I’m a girl! Why would you say that? And don’t tell me you underestimate girls cause well that’s gonna help me to land another fresh punch on your other cheek!” I said. “Oh my gosh! I’m so afraid…Kris is gonna hit me again!” he teased in a rather girly voice. “What the hell! You’re making fun of me?!” I asked. “May I am, may I’m not.” He joked. “Oh you’re a smart alec now! I’ll show you what a girl is made of!” saying I sat on him and got ready to land a few more punches. But the way he was looking at me was strange. I could see something different in those pretty blue eyes of his. I wasn’t sure what I had to do until suddenly I found the perfect excuse. There was a slow formation of black under his eye, where I had hit him. I got up from there and asked him where I could find a health kit. He tried to object but I was adamant on getting it so he had to finally leak out the little details. I quickly followed his instructions and opened his drawer. I searched for the kit in it. But I found something else there...
