"So y/n, where were you from before moving to Queens?" Betty asks, as you watch Liz tie the banner to a hook on the wall.
"Y/c (your city)" you reply.
"Why'd you move?"
"My mum got a promotion."
"Oh, nice." Betty said, clearly thinking of another question to ask.
Your eyes scan the room, looking at the sea of people eating lunch. Across the cafeteria you see Peter, sitting next to another boy, there were both looking at you. Wait, not you, you realized. They were looking at Liz. Peter locked eyes with you across the room, you felt a blush begin to creep up your face, but you were unable to look away.
"What's y/c like?" Betty asked, finally deciding on a question.
Your head snapped around, and you turned to face her, turning your back from Peter.
"It's nice" you tell Betty, beginning to describe your favourite things about it.
Before you knew it lunch time was over, you Liz and Betty, had managed to hang a total of five banners, and you had realized we're starting to become great friends with both of them. Liz and Betty told you about extra curricula's, and asked you whether or not you had picked one yet. You told them you hadn't, and laughed as they both tried to convince you to do their chosen curriculum. Betty told you all about how much fun she had in the AV club, and being able to do morning announcements, while Liz talked about training for the Academic Decathlon.
"Sorry Betty" you say, having finally made a decision, "but I think the decathlon is more my style."
"Perfect," Liz says "it's settled, you'll come to the next meeting. It's with Mr Harrington, trust me you'll love it, you'll be perfect."
