"Loki."
You jolted awake, the name still echoing in your head.
"Loki."
It had felt like a dream, a nightmare, and you wished it was. Loki, the man who had terrorized New York City, flooding its streets with aliens. The man who had attempted to tear down the Avengers, the people you had looked up to all your life. That man, that Asgardian, that Frost Giant, was your father.
He was your flesh and blood, and it made you wonder, deep down in the pit of your stomach, if maybe you were like him too.
The first thing you did when you got home was grill you Mum about your biological father. You hadn't spoken about it in years, long since accepting the fact he wasn't coming back. She had told you that he had left before you were born. When you were young you didn't understand it, but now you did, or at least you thought you did. You didn't understand anything, not really.
Your mother told you the same story she always did. This time you decided to ask where your father was from. She told you that she had met him when she was out clubbing with some friends, and one thing has lead to another and the next week she had found out she was pregnant with no way of contacting him. This was the same story she had always told you, but now that you were concentrating looking for a lie it became obvious that she wasn't telling the whole truth.
"What was his name?" You ask, trying to find a hole in her perfect explanation.
Something that would eliminate the possibility that HE was your father.
"I've told you this story before, his name is on your birth certificate y/n."
You nod, "I just need to hear you say it."
Your Mum sighs before continuing, "I always thought it was an unusual name, something like Lockie."
"Loki." You say the name that was echoing in your mind, sending a shiver down your spine. "Yes," your mother says, "Loki."
