You stumbled out of the now destroyed factory, making it a few steps before falling down. You kick off your heels, picking them up and pulling your phone out of your pocket. The screen was smashed, and you could see some of the microchips inside. You try to turn it on but nothing happens. You throw it down onto the ground, and begin to walk in the direction you think is home. 'I should have gotten Peter to drop me home before fighting the bad guys.' You think to yourself.
After walking a couple of blocks you managed to catch a cab back to your apartment building. You pay the driver with the contents of your purse and climb out of the cab. You walk through the door and into the elevator, receiving strange glances from people walking past, now that you were back in the city. You click the button to your floor and lean against the wall of the elevator. You stumble out, every muscle in your body aching. You reach your door, finding it locked. Your mum was going out, she said she would be back before homecoming finished. You reach into the pot plant beside your door, grabbing the spare keys and unlocking the door. You dump your things in your room and decide to have a hot shower, washing off all the dirt that covered you, and your once beautiful homecoming dress, now lying in shreds on the floor.
You climb out of the shower, wrapping yourself in a towel and walking over to the mirror. You wipe away the fog the steam had caused, and look at yourself, preparing to see the worst. The shower had helped a lot for your pain, and you no longer felt sore, but you suspected that may just be the shock of it all. You examine yourself, surprised to see only a few minor cuts and bruises.
'How? How is this possible?' You think to yourself. You remember what Peter had told you while he held you in his arms, how he thought he had lost you, how you hadn't been breathing for almost ten minutes. 'Was Peter overreacting?' You ask out loud, to one but yourself. 'He must of been, if not, than how am I still alive?'
