What just happened?

I blinked once, then twice trying to see if this was a dream and sighed when I was still here.

Gosh how could I have let that happen? I let my vulnerability rule my emotions

I hurt Esther
Gosh I'm so stupid

I took out my phone and dialed Esther's number which immediately went to voice mail
"Esther, Esther please pick your phone, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you" I spoke rapidly and sighed
"Ade doesn't mean anything to me, please pick up" I concluded and hung up.

I want to move forward with Esther, I really do but Selene doesn't like her.

I sunk on the chair and listened to the heart monitor
Beep! Beep! Beep!

That is my only comfort. Hearing the heart monitor, letting me know of Selene's safety. I heard the door close with a click and looked up to see Made. Her eyes were really red and her caramel skin was pale. She sat on the opposite side of the bed and kept her head in her lap. I heard sniffling and snorting making me to sigh

This is all my fault.

"Made" I stood up and sat on the floor beside her
"Made, I'm very sorry, I" I said and wanted to continue but she looked at me and I kept quiet
"Davis none of these are your fault, Esther's my best friend we'll make up soon enough" she smiled

I stared at her nose which was now red like her eyes and held her hand
"Then why are you crying?" I asked and tears welled up in her eyes again

She's gonna he sick at the rate she's crying
"I" she started the paused
"My boyfriend broke up with me" she said and I passed her tissues
"Not really a break up, I guess I'm the one that really ended things between us" she added then looked down"I didn't expect it to hurt this bad"

"Its okay Made, any guy will be foolish to loose you. Its his loss" I said and she smiled
"I just don't get it. He doesn't want anyone knowing about us, then denies having a girlfriend in front of everyone. His so called bestie wants us apart"  she said and sat on the floor beside me
"I'm just tired Davis" she whispered and I stood up
"Let's get something to eat" I said and pulled her up before walking out of Selene's room. Her grip grew slack in my hand and I turned back to see her eyes drooping
"Made! Made! What's the matter" I said and cupped her chin
"I " she whispered before she fainted on my chest
"Made! Wake up!" I said and shook her but she didn't answer. I carried her to the reception and the nurses ran to me
"What happened sir?" The asked while checking her pulse
"I don't know, she just grew weak then fainted" I said and they checked her blood pressure
"80, 60 and dropping!" the nurse yelled and the kept Made on a stretcher before rushing her to the emergency ward. They gave her some injections and passed IV full strength before keeping a similar heart monitor by her side and connecting it to her thumb.
"Mr Mahone, please see me in my office" the doctor said and I followed him quickly

I hope its nothing serious

"Its nothing serious Mr Mahone"

Thank God

"She just needs to eat,rest and reduce the emotional and psychological stress" he said and I nodded. He wrote some things in a paper and handed them to me
"Give the nurse she will get the drugs you need in the pharmacy" he said and I stared at the unreadable sentences on the paper
"Thank you doctor" I said and walked out of his office. I handed the paper to a nurse and directed her to Selene's room for after she's brought it.

I took out my phone and dialed Esther's number
"Hello" I said in relief when she picked it
"You have thirty seconds Davis" she said and I paced round Made's room
"Esther I'm really sorry. I like you a lot and I'd never betray you like that" I said and the other end was silent for sometime before she spoke up
"You have five seconds left" she said and I sighed
"Made's sick, she has been admitted" I blurted out and she gasped
"I'm on my way" she hung up and I stayed a while in Made's room listening to the constant beeping of the matching when the door suddenly opened. A guy walked in and I immediately stood in front of him
"State you business" I said and he looked at the bed longingly making me to roll my eyes

Is this the ex?

"Good evening, I'm Made's court"

Court?
Was she supposed to get married?
"And how does that answer my question?" I asked and he sighed before running his fingers through his hair
"I want to see her"
"No!" I said sternly and sat back down
"Lock the door on your way out" I added and his gaze hardened
"Who do you think you are?" He questioned and suddenly Esther opened the door
"Davis!" I stood up at the call of my name and walked towards her
"Hi" I said then stared at the floor when heat rose up my face

Hi!?

What are you Davis? A twelfth grader!?

"Esther who is he?" The ex asked and she rolled her eyes
"Not now Jay" she said and walked past me ; totally ignoring my greetings.

Ouch

She stared at Made's unmoving figure before turning to me
"What did the doctor say?" She asked and I sat down
"Apparently, she's going through emotional stress" I said and stared into 'Jay's eyes before turning to Esther
"And her diet has been crap" I added and Esther cursed under her breath
"I don't know what to say Davis, thanks" she said and the ex eyed me before sitting on one of the chairs
"Who are you to Made?" He asked and I smirked. I was about to give one hell of a smart ass answer when the door creaked open slowly
"Dad" Selene's weak voice called slowly and I felt my blood run cold

She must see Made like this, it'll break her

As if Esther read my mind, she pulled the ex and they both blocked Selene's view of the bed making me to sigh in relief.
"Princess" I said and walked to her
"What's the matter?" I asked as she dragged the stand holding her drip
"I was looking for you" she said and I pecked her fore head
"I'm here princess" I whispered and she kept her arms around me.

I returned the favour, immediately.

She suddenly let go and turned to Esther and began walked towards her

I went in front of her and attacked her face with kisses making her to groan
"Dad!" She protested and gave me a lights shove which must have been hard for her
"What? You don't like your old man kissing you anymore?" I asked and she rolled her eyes and continued walking towards Esther who had grown pale.

"Esther thank you for stopping me back there" she said and looked down
"I'm sorry for not liking you" she added and Esther chuckled before Selene did something shocking

She hugged Esther

Wow

I'm so happy right now! This is a good sign. I did a mental happy dance when reality dawned on me

No no no Made!

Selene suddenly pulled out and walked slowly towards Made
"Dad?" She said slowly and was about to fall when the ex caught her

I collected Selene from him and she looked at my with red teary eyes
"What happened to her Dad?" She questioned and I hugged her
"She isn't feeling too well" I said and her grip on my shirt got tighter
"Dad, I think I'm going to" before selene could complete her sentence she puked all over my shirt causing me to hold her tighter
"Selene, are you okay?" I questioned and she shook her head before vomiting again
"Esther please get a nurse" I said and she pressed the bell. Not long after a nurse came in and gasped when she saw the scene in front of us
"Why did she get up!?" The nurse questioned and rushed us back to her room before connecting the heart monitor and cleaning Selene up.

Soon Selene  fell asleep and the nurse turned to me
"She shouldn't stand up until tomorrow evening" she ordered and walked out of the room
