" Freedom is the oxygen of the soul. "
-Moshe Dayan
It has been an hour since Nana and Dr. Park had left the Busan Mental Hospital. The sky was still pitch black and had for only light the thousands of stars, and the moon to forget this blackness.
The young woman lowered her window and stitched her head out. She felt the wind hitting her face while she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
How long has it been since she felt the wind on her face? When was the last time she looked over the sky without bars off steel hiding her vision?
Tears threatened to fall as she watched the view changing outside the car's window. Now, she could understand what it felt like for a former convict to get out of prison.
Nana tore her eyes away from the scenery and looked over Dr. Park. Flashbacks of their first encounter traveled in her dull mind. His words, his actions...She couldn't help, but wonder if they were all fake?
Suddenly, she heard him clearing his throat rather loudly, making her aware of what she was doing, and looked away.
The young woman heard a chuckle leaving his lips, " Not that I mind, but might I know why you were looking at me so intensely? "
She scoffed, " I was reminiscing myself the first day I came to the hospital and our first encounter. " She truthfully answered.
There was no point in lying, it wasn't like she was thinking something wrong.
However, as soon as her answer left my lips she could feel Dr. Park tensing up beside her. She figured that everything that was related to the hospital was now a forbidden subject.
" Why did you do that back then? " She asked.
From the corner of her eyes, she could see him wavering, and his hold around the wheel clenching. " I trusted you, you know... So why- "
" I was trying to protect you. "
" Protect me? From what? ... Because you didn't protect me. Our current situation is the perfect proof that you have failed whatever you were trying to protect me from. You left me, in that room, alone for a whole month... You know, if Taehyung hadn't come to find me, I-I don't even know- " She sighed.
Both fell silent. Park Jimin didn't try to defend himself nor justify his actions. They knew that this discussion would go nowhere in their current situation.
She was tired, and so was he.
After what seemed to be half an hour, they both arrived at a motel.
The neon light of the motel's sign wouldn't stop flickering. It also didn't seem like a lot of people would make a stop here. However, when Jimin got out of the car, Nana noted that this was where they would spend the rest of the night. She opened her door and was about to follow him, but he quickly stopped her and told her to go back to the car.
" I will take care of it. Just get back inside, I will quickly come back. "
She sighed and waited as he said, but during that time, a fierce battle was occurring in her head. She was conflicted between two choices, should she or not make a run and also escape from Dr. Park?
She thought for a moment, and after a while, she came up with an answer. First, she didn't know where I was. Second, he took the car's keys with him, and she didn't even know if she would be able to find someone to help her. And Finally, he seemed to know better against who they were running away from.
