Torn; Chapter Seventeen

After a small celebration of my return from the hospital, I have to find a job. Uncle Simon has requested that I go find one in a Starbucks or some small place like that. I wake up early the next morning, ready to find a stupid job. I dress in my favorite pair of skinny jeans, that don't have holes in them, and a Coldplay t-shirt. I slip on my converse and put my hair in a ponytail.

"Is someone going to take me to find a job?" I ask. I grab an orange juice from the refridgerator and look at everyone.

"You need your license," Harry says with a laugh.

"Well, if someone would take me!"

"Okay, I will take you to find a job, then we get your license." Harry yanks on his converse before we walk out the door. I climb into his silver Audi, and we are on our way. "I know you like Niall."

"No, Harry. I am not having this conversation." I sigh and lay my head on the seat, shutting my eyes behind my sunglasses.

"Fine! Where are we going?"

"Um.. Starbucks." He winds down the London streets, pulling into the parking lot once we arrive. "I'll be back. Stay in the car!"

I walk inside Starbucks. It reminds me of Louis and Eleanor. They are always coming here. I laugh a little before going to the counter.

"May I help you?" a brown haired guy with light blue eyes, resembling Niall's, asks. I stare into his eyes, starstruck.

"Oh, um.. y-yes. Do you happen to have any job openings?"

"Yes, we do. A pretty girl like you would do great here. I'm Jake."

"I'm Madison." He hands me an application, which I take and fill out. My phone vibrates in my pocket.

From Haz: Don't flirt with anyone ;)x

To Haz: Shut up! I will flirt with who I want.

About that time, Jake sits down in front of me. I look up just as my phone vibrates again. I look at the message from Harry: You still like Niall. :P I roll my eyes before turning to Jake.

"Mind if I sit with you?" he asks.

"No, of course not." A smile creeps across my face. He smiles back sweetly.

"Um.. well, how are you?"

"I'm.. good. About as good as I can be, anyway."

"What happened?" I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye, since I was still filling out my paperwork. I told him about my parents, and how I ended up here. His attention was on me the whole time. Only me. "I am sorry, Madison. I didn't know," he said once I was finished.

"No, it's okay. Really. I am handling it pretty well."

"That's good. I am afraid my break is over. Give me a call sometime and maybe we can hang out." He pushed a piece of paper towards me with a wink. I smiled as I snatched the paper. I had his number. This day couldn't get any better.

I finished the paperwork and ran to the car, jumping with joy. Nothing could get me down now!
