Ask any performer about why they perform. They're not going to have an answer for you, solely because they don't know. They don't know because it's a love/hate relationship.

They love the late nights and the early mornings. They love the tea and the directors that can't get their names right. They love the adrenaline. They love the "hour call". They love the applause, they love the atmosphere.

But they hate the pressure. The feeling of never being good enough. The rush when they realize they don't remember the choreo right before they go on. The judge's stares. Writing resumes. They hate it.

But it's why they keep going.

The love/hate is why performers perform.

It's who they are.

It's who I am.
