Chapter 34

The Pichu turned to see Mario sitting beside Lightning and Luigi. "Luigi, wake up" he nudged Luigi softly. Luigi stirred and groaned. He opened one eye and looked up to see Mario. He slowly got up to his paws. "Ugh... My head!" He groaned, putting a paw to his forehead. "What happened?"

"King Boo-"

Luigi gasped once he saw Lightning. She was laying on her side unconscious. "Oh my gosh, Lightning!!!" Luigi ran to her side. "Lightning!! Lightning!! Wake up, are you okay." She was unresponsive for a moment. "Lightning please..."

Luigi waited a few seconds before he looked down, tears in his eyes. he de-evolved from his Leafeon form to his Eevee form and took off his hat and covered his face. Suddenly he heard Lightning groan. He looked to see her amber eyes. "Lightning... Thank goodness!!" He sighed in relief, putting his hat back on.

Lightning attempted to stand up to her paws but failed to retain her balance as she collapsed. Luigi put his head under her chin to help her get up. "Lightning? A-are you okay?" Luigi asked, concerned.

Lightning carefully raised her front right paw which was bruised badly. Luigi gasped and covered his mouth with his paw. Mario approached them and gently held her paw. "It looks sprained but it'll heal soon."

"How do you know that?" Lightning asked.

"Well... We used to be doctors" Mario replied.

"I've never heard of an Eevee Doctor" Lightning said, unconvinced.

"It's hard to explain" Luigi told her.

Lightning looked at the brothers with a suspicious look. "What actually are you in your world."

"Well.." Luigi started.

"We don't have time about that right now. We need to give Lightning some assistance." Mario finished.

"Yeah, we should be going." Lightning responded.

"But you're paw. You should really take it easy, Lightning, I don't think you want it to get worse." Luigi told her.

"It's fine. This isn't actually the first time this happened. It'll heal."

"Just be careful." Luigi told her. Luigi then turned to Mario and whispered. "What was that all about?"

"Something tells me we shouldn't tell her what we actually are back home." Mario answered.

"Well we have to tell her soon or-" Luigi stopped as Lightning turned her gaze at them.

"Let's just look for something to eat. It's getting really late." Lightning responded.

"Hey"

The trio turned to see a Pichu with a green scarf in front of them.

"Who are you?" Lightning asked.

"I'm Inky" the Pichu answered.

"Inky? Well... It's nice to meet you. I'm Lightning, and this is Mario and Luigi."

"Nice to meet you." The Pichu shook tails with Lightning.

Lightning then eyed her suspiciously for a moment. "Wait where did you come from?"

"I was sleeping in the hole in the tree you hit." The Pichu answered.

"Oh... I'm sorry we woke you." Lightning apologized.

"No, no it's fine. Since I'm up I'm going to look for berries. I've heard you're looking for some too, why don't we go search for one as a group together. It's better to be in a group while traveling through the woods late at night." Inky explained.

Lightning thought about it. "Sure."

Mario then pulled Lightning towards him with her good paw and whispered. "Are you sure we should trust her? What if she knows who we are and is trying to get us captured again and she's only luring us into a trap?"

"She's just a Pichu. She won't cause any harm."

"She just attacked King Boo on her own." Mario told her, not convinced.

"Wow! She must be incredibly strong then, but I think we should trust her for now. She did save us." Lightning replied.

Mario sighed. "Fine.... If you say so."

They walked to a Rawst berry bush as the group picked a few dozen berries. Then they went to the cave they were in before to eat and rest for the night.

Lightning finished her berry and was about to lay down to go to sleep until Luigi came over and laid beside her.

"Hey, how are you doing? How's your paw?" He asked.

"It's fine. We could look for an Alomomola once we wake up in the morning. She'll be able to heal it."

Luigi cocked his head to the side. "What's an Alomomola?"

"It's a type of Pokémon. I'll tell you more about it in the morning." Lightning told him before yawning and closing her eyes to drift off to sleep.

Luigi looked at the starry night sky before deciding to go to sleep too.
