I apologise for the long wait. I've been having my first few weeks of internships and it's been killing me. I have a week of holiday now and I intend to post two chapters this week. I hope you'll like them. I still have written a few chapters ahead, but I'll try to make a few more so I can update regularly once more once school starts n two weeks time.
Once introductions were over, they all settled around the dining tables. It seemed Kate had arrived just in time so as not to miss anything just yet. "So what is it you do?" Dylan asked Kate as they sat around the table, Arthur sat between his parents, a beaming smile on both Glen and Arthur's faces, Kate not far behind, glad to be reunited with each other. Weston was stood guard by the doorway, she felt a lot better knowing that her son was being protected by the PO. Last week had been hard on her with the threat and then this weekend. The no phone rule which had been established before anything happened was even harder. Certainly when her son had been threatened like that. Kate had allowed her to use her phone 5 times though. in the evening and in the mornings, just to put her mind at ease. That's all they really needed. But it was still in the back of her mind and she could see from the protective stance of Glen that he hadn't forgotten about it either.
"Depends on how you look at it." She told him as she put her glass of wine down in a nervous manner. "In the museum." he elaborated with a chuckle and tilt of his head. "Now it's just about overseeing the things that happen. Making sure every department is run at it's full and best capacity. Keeping everything rolling backstage and in the museum itself. Make sure my teams in London and overseas have what they need to continue their important work. Make sure they can continue with the research they are doing." Kate explained with a nervous shuddering breath as she felt Glen's fingers run a comfortable circle on her shoulder. She couldn't help but feel a little unnerved at all the eyes directed in her direction. Anyone would feel a little awkward at that, she figured.
"But you're a Dr right?" Someone else around the table asked her, she was doing her best to get to know and remember all of the names, but their were so many people, she couldn't remember all the names as Kate nodded her head at her.
"Yes, it just means that I have a PhD in my chosen field," she explained with a small chuckle and shrug of her shoulders. She didn't really understand why it gave her the title of doctor though. But she wasn't going to break her head over that, it was what it was.
"A professor?" One of Glen's nieces asked her as she nodded her head. "Anyone with a PhD can teach and train people in the field you're specialised it. That's why I'm giving a reading tomorrow at Trinity," she explained since Glen had already given away that piece of information.
"How long did you have to study for that?" the edge asked her as she turned to him. It was crazy to consider that she was sitting with U2 at the table. But then again she presumed that it was the same for Glen when he sat with her and her 'family.' She guessed it was only fair and a bit in reverse.
"Seven years after secondary school," she explained as she noticed the bulging of eyes at that news. "What is your field?" Luke asked her as she turned to Glen's second son. "I have two majors and one minor: Paleontology that's everything with fossils from the start of earth till basically now, and everything that's ever lived on earth. My other major was Paleogeography which is everything around the creation of the earth and the development of it in the last 4,5 billion years," she explained with a small chuckle as she saw the overwhelmed faces. All they had known was that she worked at the Museum of Natural History Museum in London and she was the director. From the ones who'd met her they had known she studied fossils, but nothing more.
"What's your minor?" Danny asked they hadn't realised how deep these things actually went. They'd assumed it was just dinosaurs, but apparently, there was more to it. "Paleovirology, ancient viruses and diseases. it's something that's more and more important with climate change," she explained with a tilt of her head and small sigh.
