I apologise for the very long wait I hope it'll have been worth it. Please enjoy.
Glen watched as her eyes fell closed, he couldn't be happier about this development though. She was awake, finally after almost two weeks of being in a coma she was awake and breathing on her own. She was going to make it, that was a certainty now. Glen realised that it would be a hard and difficult road still. The hardest part was probably still to come. The most important thing was that she was alive, awake and breathing on her own. They'd figure all the rest out later. Right now it was the middle of the night and he didn't want to wake everyone with the news. It could wait till morning, there wasn't much they could do now about it anyway. Kate still needed her rest and it was best for her to just go back to sleep.
But that morning William and Harry walked into Kate's room before Glen had woken up to call anyone about the change in her condition. They were more than a little stunned to see the ventilator and most of the machinery gone from around their sister. At first they thought she was dead, but then they heard the familiar beating sound of her heart reaching them.
"Sorry I meant to call you this morning. She woke up during the night, I didn't want to wake any of you up in the middle of the night." Glen explained as he shot up from them clearing their throats. He realised eh'd overslept but it was his first decent bit of sleep since this entire thing had started.
"Did she really wake up?" William asked him in disbelief as he closed the gap between himself and the bed, dropping on the chair at her bedside. "Yes she did around 2:30, she woke me up really." Glen whispered, looking down at his future wife, the day seemed brighter already. He didn't have to consider the thought anymore that it would have stayed with just engagement. That he would never get to see those beautiful blue eyes of her.
"They removed the tube, she's breathing on her own since then. She's very tired, she can't be awake for long moments. But she's awake." Glen explained with a big grin on his face, whilst taking her hand again.
It wasn't long after that for the news to spread. From her family to her friends. All of them were delighted to know and hear that she was awake and fighting on.

A few days after Kate waking up the news had spread like wildfire and it hadn't been able to be kept private. Someone had leaked her waking up and Charles had intervened and put out another official statement, that yes she'd woken up, but she still needed to recover. And that both family and Kate would appreciate privacy and time to handle all that had happened.
It hadn't been long since Kate woke up that a physiotherapist had been flown over from Switzerland to handle her recovery. It was an intense program and she could barely handle it, she was still in a lot of pain, both mentally and physically. At Nine in the morning she'd start with the revalidation. It was a lot of hard work a lot of tears and screaming had already taken place during that time. She'd train till 11 in the morning than she'd return to her room to eat and they'd let her be for the afternoon.
In the afternoon had to be the toughest still of her day, a psychiatrist would come by and sit with her. It was someone Harry had arranged for her, it was the same doctor he'd had when handling his PTSD. She knew the doctor from when she'd supported Harry back then. But she wasn't ready to handle everything that had happened, but everyone put their foot down. She needed to talk about what had happened. But mostly Dr Charles sat by her bedside and she'd become a master at changing the subject. he let her however, assuring her and her family that she would talk when she felt ready to, for now he would list to her and be there for her in any way he could.
The evenings were the best moment of the day as far as she was concerned. Arthur would come by, mostly Catherine would bring him by and he'd sit on her bed and she'd cuddle him close to her. She'd almost lost her little boy by dying. Glen and her were a bit more distanced from each other. Kate felt a huge guilt about the miscarriage. It had been her decision which had killed their little unborn baby.
