So I apologise for the long wait, I hope it pays off within the next chapter. Once again my apologies and enjoy.
Waking up to the ringing of his phone, he turned over and reached for his phone on the nightstand. Kate was still asleep beside him when he noticed it was Martin. "Morning," Glen answered, running his hand over his face, running the sleep out of his face.
"Morning Glen, I apologise for waking you. I got Kate's blood results back." Martin started as Glen sat up, this would be the moment of truth. right now would be the moment if he'd figure out whether he'd be a dad for the third time or if it was just the flu like Kate thought it was. Kate didn't seem to be burning up as much as she had last night at least, she was still sweating and warm a little, but she wasn't so much of a furnace anymore.
"It's negative Glen, she's probably got a bad case of the flu," Martin informed him as Glen looked at Kate beside him. "Okay, I'll tell her, thanks, Martin," Glen told him as they ended the call before he lay back down. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at that news. He wanted to have another baby with Kate, he knew it may not be the best of time, he was travelling all the time with work. they were going to write the next album. He couldn't leave his girlfriend behind again, alone and pregnant. It wasn't right, he'd missed so much with Arthur already he didn't want both of them to go through that again. He turned his head in direction as he felt her stir beside him.
"Who was it?" she asked, turning on her side and her voice didn't sound as hoarse as it had last night. "It was Martin. The pregnancy test was negative." Glen informed her with a disappointed tone as Kate snuggled into his side, relieved to know that she wouldn't have another baby just yet. Things were only starting to look up for the two of them, they couldn't add another child to the mix just yet. "I told you," she told him closing her eyes as she embraced being in his arms.
"What time is it?" She asked as Glen stretched his neck to look at the clock. "Seven," he told her as she nodded her head, kissing his chest. "I'm going to take shower and drive to Luggala," she told him as she moved to get out of bed but Glen's arms wrapped around her waist. "Shouldn't you stay in bed a day longer?" he asked her in a caring and concerned tone, trying to hold her back in bed.
"I already told you, Glen. I don't have time to be sick. I don't see you guys cancelling a concert for just the flu." she told him with a knowing tone and look over her shoulder as she had him there. They'd gone on stage plenty of times with the flu or colds. It wasn't the same but he knew the determination that his girlfriend had. He knew that he wouldn't be able to change her mind and fell back down on the bed, allowing her to get a shower and get to work.
"and if I go today, we'll have the entire week to ourselves," she explained to him as she looked at him over her shoulder and he couldn't help but agree to it. They wanted to spend some quality time together with their family. Kate had even talked about including Luke as much as they could. Not that they would be doing many things. Just a few visits here and there and going to the beach. She wanted to get to know Luke as much as possible, he was a part of Glen's life and wanted to include him into the family as well. She knew what it felt like to be shun by your own family and she'd sworn, that with her no one would ever feel unwanted. Unless they had given her a reason to of course, but Luke was a great kid and she wanted to get to know him more. So they'd planned to do some stuff together. She hoped that her illness would have been a one day thing.
"Just be careful you aren't superwoman." He called after her as he rose from the bed to join her in the bathroom. She still had a nasty cough and she felt herself getting out of breath and sweating just by taking a shower. but she wasn't to be swayed. She was going to the dig site, hell or high water. Even if it was for just a few hours before she returned back home.
