It was early Monday morning, she'd had dinner the night before with Kate, William, Harry and Meghan. Looking at the clock on her night stand she noticed it wasn't even six yet. "God dammit Will, it's monday morning." she cursed as she picked up the phone as it rested on her ear, to lazy to move an inch more, she did however pull Glen's pillow a bit closer to her.
"Kate's in labour." Will noted with a nervous tone as Kate shot up in her bed so quick her phone flew somewhere on the bed and she had to look for it for a few second in the darkness. "Is she okay? How far apart are they? Is she alright?" Kate immediately asked, feeling for her best friend as she was about to give birth to their third child.
"Yes, she's fine. I just wanted to let you know." William told her with a reassuring tone but the happiness in his voice wasn't to be missed. Kate was overjoyed for them that they were expending their growing family. She'd had a front seat to witness their ever growing relationship, to see it get stronger through the years as they had more children. It wasn't something she could say about her own relationship at the moment.
"I'll get George to school, Maria will only have to worry about Charlotte that way." Kate immediately told him as she got out of bed and headed for the bathroom, taking a jeans and top out of her closet on her way there. "Thanks, sis, I can't believe I'm going to be a dad again." he snickered at the phone as she let out a small chuckle.
"You're a great dad Will. The kid is lucky with parents like you. Don't worry about George and Charlotte, I'll take the day off and get Charlotte from school at noon." Kate assured him as she heard Will let out a relieved sigh. No matter how much Maria did for them and how much she was a part of their family. He still felt better when they were being cared for by Kate or any of his family members. It felt more normal to them when they could do this and he'd do the same for Kate in a heartbeat. Harry and Meghan had a day packed with engagements so he knew Kate would be there. He could rely on her as much as he could rely on Harry, maybe a bit more when it came to certain things, which where Harry was better in other situations. The three of them made a perfect fit of siblings and it was what made the three of them work, even if Kate wasn't blood.
"Can I let Glen know?" she asked him as she put the shower on, her phone on speaker on the Vanity sink. "Sure, just keep it under wraps, we're going to leave for the hospital now. George and Charlotte are still asleep." he informed her as she hummed in response. "I'll be there before they wake up," she promised him, thinking of getting an Arthur sleeping in her car, but she didn't mind doing it today. "Thanks, sis, love you," he told her. "Love you to Will, take care of Kate and wish her good luck will you?" Kate asked him as Will promised he would do that.
Dialling Glen's number she cursed when he didn't pick up. she didn't want to leave that on his voice mail, but she did anyway as she rushed under her shower. Pulling on her pair of jeans and blouse, she stuffed everything she'd need for Arthur in her car before getting him into her car still asleep.
By the time she reached KP, Maria was there at the front door. "Is he still asleep?" Maria asked her as Kate let out a small chuckle as she carried in a sleeping Arthur and dropped him on the couch in the living room. "Indeed, wanted to be here to help you out," she told Maria as she gave her a small smile.
"I'll bring George and Arthur to school and come back here to pick Charlotte up at lunch," Kate explained as Maria smiled at the care that this young woman always seemed to have for everyone. She'd known her from the first day that she'd started working for Catherine and Will. She brought such an even added normalcy to this already down to earth family. She was really the sister they never had and took care of Will and Catherine's children like any Aunt would do. Maria knew that Kate always helped out just like Catherine did and it's why she loved Kate so much and loved working so much for Catherine and Will and why she took such a great care of Arthur alongside Charlotte and George.
