Chapter 38

--------------Maddie's POV--------------

Does Mrs Woodkirk seriously think I wouldn't have read of mice and men when I have a GCSE on it? Wrong. Charlie explained the story to me. Well. He tried to "Charlie I know what happens. Just tell me the basis of what I need in the project" I said

"Surround it with little facts. About curleys wife and other characters. and about facts about 1930 America. Put quotes and stuff. And stuff that the characters might be thinking" Charlie explained. I nodded at him. Trying to take in what he was saying.

"Okay. Come to mine tonight and we'll work on it then" I smiled. Charlie nodded at me smiling.

Walking home I was on Charlie's back as we left the gates. Not out of my own wish though

"I've literally missed you both so much" Charlie said

"I haven't missed you" Erika smirked

"Aw" Charlie said sticking out his bottom lip. Erika laughed

"I'm joking Charlie. I missed you too" she smiled. We walked into the house "I'm gonna go call Emmy" Erika said

"Okay. We're gonna go work on this project" I said

-----------------Charlie's POV------------------

3 hours later the project was done, and me and Maddie were sat in Erika's room

"I still can't believe you both came in. On Friday" I said. They both laughed

"I couldn't wait through the weekend" Eri said

"um WE couldn't wait" Maddie corrected as I put my arm around her.

"HI MADDIE!! HI ERIKA!!" Maddie's auntie Katie shouted.

"Shit. I forgot Katie was stopping here" Erika said

"Where's Joe and Sadie?" Maddie asked standing up

"They're at Lucie's. Coming tomorrow though" Erika answered. Maddie left the room and walked downstairs

"For god sake. Where she going now!?" I said. Erika shrugged

"God knows" she replied. 5 minutes later Maddie came back in

"Charlie you can stop here tonight" Maddie said

"Oh, okay thanks" I replied smiling

5 hours later it was 11pm and me and Maddie were laid in her bed watching scary movie. Her patents weren't going to let us sleep in the same bed so I stopped in Maddie's room and Maddie stopped in Erika's room with her.

"I need to go into Erika's room, night" she said climbing out of bed

"Night" I smiled kissing her softly.

About 20 minutes later I was still awake and I suddenly felt a pressure on the bed "Madds? Is that you?" I said

"Yeah. I couldn't sleep" you said climbing into her double bed with me. Quietly I pecked her forehead and wrapped my arm around her waist and the other one playing with her hair which was tied up in a lose plait.

"You're so beautiful" I said. Maddie giggled slightly and nuzzled into my neck

"Thankyou" she whispered kissing my neck a couple of times. Slowly we both fell asleep. The comfiest I've ever been..
