Chapter 3: Don't be Stupid

After school, Brix found Ember by her locker "Hey" she greeted

"Hey" the other girl replied closing her locker

"I'm Beatrix, but you can call me Brix. I was in your class just now" The girl didn't reply "So, uhm. Maybe I could show you around if you like? I know this school pretty well" Brix offered

"I already had the orientation" Ember responded while walking towards the exit

"Oh, is that so. Well how about I show you around the area, you being new to the city and all" Brix opened the door for her. The girl forced a smile but didn't reply "What do you think?" said Brix following her out. She saw her approach a black SUV with a man in a black suit opening the door for her.

"I think I know this city pretty well" said the girl going in the car "with my dad being a senator and all" she said with a smirk, Brix was taken aback "I'll see you around" she said for the last time as they drove off

Ghaille saw the whole thing and placed an arm on her sisters' shoulder "Ember May McGregor, daughter of Senator Oliver McGregor, one of the most powerful man in the country. Looks like she got you there, bro"

After work, Alex and Ysabelle are eating dinner at their favourite restaurant "So, how's work?" Alex asked while cutting her steak.

"The usual. But Beth, you know who Beth is right?" Ysabelle asked. Alex hummed in reply. She lied, she doesn't know who the woman is. "Well, Joanne my PA..."

Alex listened even though she doesn't know what the other woman was talking about

"Alex..."

"Yeah?" Alex replied sheepishly

"Are you okay?" Ysabelle asked looking at her fiancé concernedly

"Uhm.. yeah. Sorry. What were you saying?" Alex asked

Ysabelle held Alex's hand on the table "Is everything alright?" she asked rubbing Alex's hand with her thumb

Alex smiled "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Probably just tired or something?"

"Why don't you go home?" Ysabelle suggested

"No, no. We're having dinner. It's been ages since we had time together" Alex insisted

"Are you sure?" Ysabelle asked one more time. Alex was about to reply but Ysabelle's phone. She turned to the woman in front of her who gave her a nod to answer it "Hey" she answered. After the phone call, she hanged up "It's work. They need me"

"Go, it's fine" replied Alex knowing how busy it is

"I'll make it up to you" replied Ysabelle kissing her fiancé

"Take care"

"Go get some rest" Alex smile in reply while she watched the woman leave the restaurant.

They've known each other since they were kids with their parents being friends and business partners. They started dating in high school, got engaged when they finished college, and the wedding is not planned yet, but soon.

Alex decided to go to her parents' house instead of going to the penthouse, she and Ysabelle shared. She saw Brix and Ghaille by the pool, so she joined them "Hey" she greeted

"Alex? What are you doing here?" asked Brix "Did you and Ysabelle fight?"

"What? Even though I'm getting married I still live here, and I was literally here this morning, why are you so shocked?" replied Alex "And what no! She's at work and the penthouse is empty so"
