Chapter 28: Alex? In a party?

Alex is in her office looking through some files on her laptop when she heard a knock on the door "Come in!" she said without looking up from her laptop.

"Alex!" greeted a man about the same age as Alex, one of her mates who also works in the company

"What do you want Paul?" Alex asked looking up to her friend

"Well, I came to invite you to a party. Though I already know you're going to decline like always, but I didn't want to be rude" said Paul who was getting ready to get rejected again. As mentioned, Alex doesn't like going into clubs and parties with loud music and drinking.

"Whose party is it this time?" Alex asked

"Leigh-Anne's. It's her birthday. Everyone will be there" Paul replied

"Everyone?" Alex asked. If they invited everyone that means Ysabelle would also be there because they share the same friend group.

"If you're thinking about your ex attending, don't worry, she cancelled" Paul answered. Alex sighed. Then Paul said "why are we even talking about this, you're going to say no anyways" said Paul trying to get Alex to feel guilty. "But anyways, it'll be at Maxwell's club if you're interested"

He was about to walk out when Alex asked, "what time?" Paul's eyes widened and turned to her friend

"Wait!" he said in shock "you're coming?"

Alex rolled her eyes "don't make a big deal out of it" she replied

"It is a big deal, you never accept coming to these types of parties" said Paul.

Alex remembered that day "That's exactly it Alex!" Ysabelle returned "you're perfect" she exhaled "I've been thinking these past few days, our relationship is perfect. Too perfect. It's like it's been handed out in a silver platter and I just feel bored" So, she decided to why not loosen up a little bit "are you going to tell me the time or should I just cancel again? I'm a very busy person Paul"

"No! wait, wait, wait. It starts at eight" replied the man in panic

"Great, I'll see you guys there" said Alex looking down her laptop again

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! This is epic. I have to tell everyone!" said Paul exiting the room typing on his phone making Alex roll her eyes ones more.

Sighing she leaned back on her seat thinking about what she just did 'should I just cancel?' she asked herself 'nah. I can't. I already said, I'd come' she sighed ones again 'what am I doing? she stood up and poured herself a glass of water 'maybe this is good? Maybe I should loosen up a bit more? Would I like it?' She shook her head 'there's only one way to find out' she took a sip from her glass

"Miss Pendleton, your 3:30 is ready for you at boardroom 3" said Jocelyn making Alex turned to her PA.

"Great" Alex replied and fixed her blazer. She went home afterwards and went to the gym where she found the person she was looking for "are you trying not to hurt the punching bag?" she teased

"Shut up!" Brix replied so Alex went behind the bag and held it while her sister punch it "so why are you here? Do you need a boxing partner to blow off steam? I'm free"

Alex smiled "Nah! I actually need your help. I'm going to a party" When Brix heard that she accidentally punched her sister instead. So, Alex fell on the floor. "Ow!" she said rubbing her jaw.

"Sorry" Brix helped her up "I just couldn't believe you going to a party. That's something that never happened before"

"Is it that surprising that I don't attend parties?" Alex asked
