Chapter 34: Interuniversity

Finally, after so many days of preparation, it's day of the Interuniversity. The university is packed with people coming from other schools and others who came to support. Ghaille got off her car and circled to the other side and opened the door.

She assisted the person out "be careful" she warned

"I can do it myself you know" Naomi replied taking Ghaille's hand. Though her injury is almost healed, Ghaille still looks after her. She' s been driving her from her house to school, she's been assisting her walk and other stuff.

"I know" Ghaille replied "but you're clumsy and I don't want you getting hurt again" she added

Naomi's friends saw so, they approached the duo "if it isn't KASB and the princess" Faye teased.

"What's KASB?" Ghaille asked. She's been hearing that quite a lot from them and she never really knew what it meant.

"It's nothing" Naomi replied "just something these weirdos came up with, carry this" she ordered and handed Ghaille her bag. Ghaille didn't complain.

"Inch resting" said Rhett following them

Naomi is seating with her friends while Ghaille was double checking everything "are you and KASB finally friends?" asked Miah "oh my gosh I never thought I'd ever say that"

The VP thought for a moment and glanced at Ghaille's direction "I don't know. Probably? I mean, we've been hanging out more lately and not just about school now but also outside of school"

"What?!" her friends asked in disbelief

"Can you guys quiet down" Naomi told them

"You and Ghaille hanged out, outside school?" repeated Faye.

Naomi nodded "she's been driving me home and to school. And she's been hanging around at home a lot"

"And when did this happen? You never told us anything" said Rhett

"I don't see why I have to tell you guys anything" Naomi replied

"We're your friends!" Miah exclaimed

"Well, I did notice you two haven't been fighting these past few days" said Rhett "and if you annoy her, she just shrug it off. And just now when you were bossing her around she didn't say anything and just did what she was asked"

"Did you put anything on her drink?" asked Miah

"No! what?!" Naomi asked

"Do we have a problem here?" asked Ghaille turning to Naomi for answers but Naomi just shook her head "ok, well, we're about to start. Everyone's at the football field already. We should go" again she assisted the girl "just seat here, I'll be helping the others. If you need anything just call me" Naomi just nodded.

The programme started and the host introduced the other schools. Naomi sat with the other guests by the bleachers while Ghaille is somewhere. The presentation was successful and the athletes lit the cauldron indicating the start of the games.

After the programme, Ghaille told the girl she can handle the team while she rest. But Naomi insisted on helping. Ghaille thought she cant babysit the girl and help with the other SU members, so she asked Rhett and the others to look after her

Lunch came and Ghaille decided to invite Naomi too look around the food stalls "we're here too you know" said Faye

"You can come too" Ghaille told them

But Rhett nudged his friend "uhm...never mind. I forgot we actually had plans ourselves"

"Are you sure?" Ghaille asked

"Mhmm" Faye hummed

So, the pair made their way "what do you want to eat?" asked Ghaille

"Any" Naomi replied. Though there's awkwardness between them because they still don't know how to act around each other. Throughout lunch, they had a few talks mostly about the coming days with the programme.

"So, I'll see you after?" Ghaille asked

"Ok" Naomi briefly replied

"So, how was your date?" Miah asked

"What date are you talking about?" Naomi asked

"Psh!" Girl don't try lying!" added Faye "the one you just had with Miss President"

"That wasn't a date!" Naomi replied. Before the programme ends, Ghaille looked for Naomi and led her to the rooftop "what are we doing here?" she asked

"Nothing" Ghaille replied looking down the crowds of people "I just wanted to take a break" she turned to Naomi "did you have dinner yet?" she asked. The girl shook her head "Great" she took a basket from out of nowhere and laid a cloth on the ground and assisted the girl down

"Why are you doing this Ghaille?" Naomi finally asked the burning question "you're being awfully nice to me all of a sudden. You've never really done this before"

"Is there a reason that I shouldn't?" Ghaille asked

"Stop answering my question with another question!"

Ghaille smile "I thought I was fairly obvious"

"Obvious about what?" Naomi asked

"About everything" Ghaille replied

"You're are so vague" Naomi replied

Ghaille didn't reply

"I don't get you. Before you were ignoring me and now, you're being nice? What is it Ghaille?" Ghaille just smiled annoying the other girl "you know what, I'm leaving"

Ghaille immediately stopped her "do you really wanna know why?" Ghaille asked. Naomi waited for her to continue "I like you" on cue fireworks blasted in the air. They fell silent as the fireworks lit up the sky
