Chapter 12: Preparing to meet her parents

After their 'date' Brix and Em had been hanging out more and more. And to everyone's surprise Brix haven't been bunking her lessons lately, haven't got in trouble with her teacher and she's been participating more in her classes

"Ok, who are you and where did you take my sister?" asked Ghaille beside her sister

"Haha, very funny" replied Brix while stuffing her books in her locker

"It's so weird seeing you like this"

"Get used to it"

"You're really serious about her aren't you?"

Brix stopped what she was doing and leaned on the lockers "I don't know, man. I never really felt like this before. But, I wanna see where this goes" she turned to her sister "right now all I know is she's different and she's... very special to me"

Ghaille raised an eyebrow "Ok I'm weirding me out" she responded and walked off leaving Brix on the hallway

Thinking about what Ghaille told her 'you're serious about her aren't you?' She doesn't know how to answer that. She's never really taken a girl seriously before 'what is happening to me?' she told herself

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard someone say something beside her. She turned and saw Em looking at her worriedly "are you ok?" Em asked

"Ah, yeah. I'm fine" Brix replied standing up straight again

"You were in deep thought there. What's up?"

"Nothing" she felt her cheeks turning bright pink 'If only you knew' she thought

"You're turning red" she placed a hand on Brix's forehead making her turn redder

So, she took a step back surprising Em "I'm fine. I... I just didn't get enough sleep yesterday" She turned back to the girl who was still looking at her curiously "What's up?"

"Well... uhm. I was going to ask you for dinner tonight, but it seems like you're not feeling well, I'll just tell them you want come" Em explained

"No, no. I'm fine. Dinner?" Brix asked

"Yeah, my parents wanted to meet you actually. But it's ok. I'll tell them you're not feeling well"

"Your parents wanted to meet me?"

"Well, yeah. They wanted to meet the person who keeps driving to and from school everyday"

Brix didn't know what to say to this. With her confusing feelings towards this girl and now her parents wanted to meet her. It's kinda crazy.

"It's ok. If you can't come"

"No, no I'll come" she smiled

"Cool, I'll tell them" Em gave her a kiss on the cheek surprising Brix "are you sure you're ok?" Em asked when she saw the other girl a little shade redder

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Just a little hot in here" she lied.

"Ok, I'll see you later?"

"Y-yeah" Brix stuttered

"How do I look?" Brix asked turning away from the mirror to face her sisters. The trio fought back the urge to laugh "come on man! I'm serious!" she said annoyedly turning back to the mirror again. She's wearing a purple suit, complete with the tie and all.

"Are you sure you're going to dinner or do you want to take over Gotham? You just need lipstick it voila! Joker" laughed Jaime

Brix threw a pillow at her sister "shut up, man!"

Ghaille stood next her "don't mind them. You look great. You wanted to look presentable to her family, so there you go"

"You sure?" asked Brix "I don't want to look stupid in front of her parents"

"Oh, don't worry. You look great. Though you might want to stay low key, Jokers looking for his suit" said Alex laughing with Jaime.

They both received a pillow from Ysabelle who was also there "you two, out!" she ordered. The pair exited the room leaving Ysabelle, Brix and Ghaille in the room. When suddenly the trio heard hysterical laughing outside the door "Ah those two can be so childish" said Ysabelle

"Maybe they're right. I should go change" said Brix

"Well, the purple suit is maybe too much, I guess" said Ghaille

"Just wear something you're comfortable wearing" said Ysabelle "just not the usual leather"

Moments later, Brix walked out of the closet wearing a navy chino pants paired with a light blue button up shirt rolled up to the elbows "how does this look?" she asked catching the pairs attention

"Now, that looks great" said Ysabelle turning Brix around

"Yeah, I think this is better" added Ghaille

They then went down to the living room where they saw Alex and Jaime on the floor play fighting, making the trio facepalm themselves "children" said Ysabelle catching the attention of the pair on the floor

"You look nice" said Alex standing up followed by Jaime

"What happened to the suit? Did you give it back to Joker?" teased Jaime

"Yeah, it's in your room" Brix replied

"Well, you better get going, you don't want to be late" said Ghaille "remember you're meeting the senator, be good"

"Yeah, yeah"

"Don't forget these!" said Ysabelle handing Brix the gifts she bought. Flowers for me and her mom and a bottle of whiskey for her dad. They watched the car drove out of the garage

Ysabelle turned to Alex "you would've let her go with that purple suit if we weren't there don't you?" Alex diverted her gaze while whistling making her fiancé shake her head in disappointment.
