Chapter 49: Visit

Brix have been hanging around the McGregor's for some time now and sometimes she stays there. Anthony also is staying to take care of everything their parent left of and for Ember. At first Anthony like their parents didn't agree with Ember and Brix's relationship. But when he saw how those two loved each other, and how Brix takes care of his sister. He learnt to accept it.

"Are you sure, you want to go in?" Brix asked the girl on her passenger seat.

Ember gave her a soft smile and nodded "yeah. And I've missed quite a lot since. So" Brix didn't argue and drove off.

Arriving at school, the others joined them "Emi!" Naomi gave her friend a hug "I missed you!"

"I missed you guys, too" Ember replied

"Glad to have you back in school" said Ghaille

Like always, Brix was very supporting and caring. She'd walk the girl to class and spend time with her at lunch. Her old friends were surprised to see the change in Brix's attitude. From being this rowdy trouble maker to this gentle and caring person. Even the teachers saw the difference in her eversince Ember came into her life.

"Do you want anything?" Brix asked the girl next to her.

"Brix, I'm fine really. Come sit" Ember replied. The girl obeyed. Ones seated Ember gave her a thankful smile "thank you" she told her

Brix gave her a questioning look "for what?"

"What do you mean for what? for always being there for me when I need you. For always caring for me. For not giving up on me through hard times. For loving me" Ember explained

Brix gave her a kiss on the head "I will do anything for you"

"I love you" said Ember

"I love you more" Brix replied then the others joined them.

It's a weekday and Ember has school while Brix's class got cancelled. So, while waiting, a sudden thought came across her mind. So, now she's seating on a stool, nervous on what's going to happen next "what are you doing here?!" said someone in front of her. Looking up, she saw Martha "you may go. Can I go back now please?" she asked the guard.

"No, Mrs McGregor. I— Please. Can I talk to you? It's about Ember" Brix pleaded. Oliver is there too, so he stopped his wife when he heard their daughters name.

"What about Ember?" Oliver asked

Martha sat back down forcibly. Brix took a deep breath "ma'am, sir I know in the past we weren't in good terms and probably still is but I'm doing this for Ember" she paused "I—I would like to fix my relationship with you two"

"That will never happen" Martha replied then scoffed bitterly "do you really think I'll ever accept your kind to be linked with my family?"

Brix didn't get affected by those words. She kept telling herself to be strong and that this is all for Ember "I-I know ma'am that's why, I'm willing to do anything to prove to you that I truly care about her and I wouldn't do anything to hurt her"

Martha hissed "good luck with that!" then stood up leaving the other two

Brix looked down on the table "what you're doing is truly admirable, kid" said Oliver "but It's very hard to change someone's beliefs that has been deeply ingrained into someone's life"

The girl gave him a small smile thinking at least he's talking to her "I promise to you this sir. I will prove my love for your daughter"

"For me, as long as my daughter is safe and happy, I don't care who she's with" the man replied "so, prove to me that you'll never hurt her like...like what we did"

Brix nodded "I swear all my life, sir"

Oliver smiled "good luck"

"Thank you for your trust, sir" Brix shook the older man's hand

On the drive home, Ember noticed that the girl is quieter that usual "hey, is everything ok?" she asked holding the girls' free hand.

Brix out of her thoughts turned to the girl and replied with a smile "yeah"

Ember didn't believe her one bit "what happened? I know there's something you're not telling me, Brix" The girl on the drivers' seat licked her lips hesitating whether to tell the girl the truth "Brix"

So, she parked the car on the side then turned to the girl "I went to visit your parents" she blurted.

"What?!" Ember replied in shock

"I—I" Brix couldn't answer

"Brix, why would you do that?!" Ember asked

"I just wanted to talk to them"

"You know what me and my parents are going through right now" the girl replied "you going there, it'll just complicate things. You know how much they don't like our relationship"

"That's why I went" Brix replied "to make them understand"

Ember rubbed her forehead "Brix, we tried that, remember?"

"Yes, but I'm not giving up"

"I thought we're ok" said Ember "we're fine now. We don't need their approval because they'll never accept"

"Em, they're still your parents" Brix replied "as respect for them, I'm willing to do everything for them to accept us...accept me"

Ember noticed that this is really important to the girl. She's upset with her parents at the moment and she knows that everyone's head is still all over the place but seeing Brix this determined, why would she stop her. She rubbed he girls' cheeks "I just don't want you getting hurt. You know them. They have a very foul mouth when it comes to homosexuality"

"I don't care" Brix replied "I will make them see that there is nothing wrong with loving who you love"

Ember gave the girl a satisfied smile "you never stop until you get what you want don't you?"

Brix smiled "that's how I got you" Ember pushed her face away laughing
