Hoseok - friend

Watching the other teenagers play in the snow with their friends, you leaned your back on the brick wall as you looked away with your headphones muting their laughs.

You chuckled to yourself, turning the volume on higher as you stood there alone.

You jumped in shock when you felt a tap on the shoulder. Your turned your head while you put one side of the headphones behind, so you could hear.

"Hi!" A random boy your age waved at you in a cheerful tone. You questioned to yourself on why he approached you. No one ever does that to you.

"Who are you?" You asked him in a cold tone.

You expected him to be caught of guard with your tone— heck, you expected for him to run away from you regretting his decision of approaching you. It wasn't that you were mean, you just never had someone before.

Instead, he gave you a gentle smile. His smiled reminded you of a heart. "I'm hoseok."

Unexpectedly it was you who was caught of guard. Was he actually staying? Did he just smile? Your stomach felt like it was spinning since someone had approached you.

You felt the corner of your lips lift up. "I'm y/n."

"Why do you have your headphones on?" Hoseok asked. "You're missing out on the world."

What he said made you chuckle. "It's better than the world missing out on me." You saw him pout. "Then you must be lonely..." He spoke sadly.

"Don't be lonely." He smiled. "Your hope is here!"

Looking at him with slightly wide eyes. You couldn't believe someone is interacting with you. You felt happy. "Thanks."

"Great!" He said happily. "Would you like to play with me?" He asked. You looked at him with a blank face while your eyes stared at him with a hint of shock. You slowly nodded.

Grabbing your wrist, he ran out to the snow as you stumbled the first few steps.

The next few hours filled with laughter from the both of you. You both had snowball fights, made jokes, and enjoyed in the snow. You will admit that it was fun, well because of Hoseok.

You noticed people kept on staring at you while you had fun with him. Teenagers would send you weird looks and laugh at you at times. You just ignored it. Not wanting to be distracted.

Placing your Polaroid camera down on a bench, you and Hoseok posed with him wrapping an arm around your shoulder as you did a peace sigh. The camera clicked and the print came out. So you put it aside waiting for it to load in.

Closing the door shut, you walked in your house and sighed. You were tired after playing in the snow for so long.

Walking towards your small kitchen, you looked at your mini fridge and stared at the pictures you stuck there. One was with your parents. They both died in a car accident so you had to live alone.

You were quite lonely after that.

Shrugging that thought off, you opened your fridge. Nothing but a bottle of water was displayed. Right, I have no money to buy food.

As you stared at your empty freezer, the coffee table by the living room had a few Polaroids displayed on it from the pictures you took together with Hoseok.

You never saw it. But all the pictures had you doing different poses. There was that one picture where he wrapped an arm around your shoulder that you both took awhile ago,

But all that was visible in that picture, and all the others, was just an empty space beside you.

I had a project in my class where we had to make a story and turn it into a comic. This is what my story was. It's quite sad when you think about it.

If you don't understand it, Hoseok isn't real. Y/n was so lonely that she created him in her mind to think that she has a friend. But in reality, he never existed.
