I arrived my family  home and found Zain on the couch watching football and I playfully slapped his head.

"Kai, ba ka ganni baneh"

"Adda, I don't have your time. Please go and meet mommy  and harri," he replied nonchalantly and returned his attention to the television.

"Seriously? This is the first time you're seeing me after a month, and this is what I get? Thank you."
I said, ruffling his hair and walking away.

I joined Mommy , Harri, and Iman for a pleasant conversation.

Just as I was about to leave, a new message appeared on my phone.

"Are you sleeping there? Or what? -A"

I was puzzled. Nobody had my new number except Naseer, but the message was from "A" instead of "N." this guy and his unpredictability , I sighed and said goodbye to mommy and the others before driving home.

When I entered the house, I heard faint tapping sounds and as I looked up, I saw Naseer's back, he was wearing a black short-sleeved kaftan, It seemed like he had gotten up from watching TV when he heard me enter, It felt as though he had deliberately turned away to avoid seeing me and I honestly couldn't comprehend why he seemed to despise me so much that he wouldn't even look at me.

Determined to confront him and finally have a conversation, I hurried after him and stood by his door.

I took a deep breath and turned the doorknob.

Tf? I'm sorry for the language, but the door was locked.

I knocked, but there was no response. Frustrated, I turned to leave then, a thought crossed my mind what if something had happened to him? I knocked louder this time.

"Hey, are you okay?" I called out still, there was silence.

I sighed and headed back to my room falling face first on my bed when a message popped in.

"Go away, weirdo. -N."

Seriously? I muttered loud enough for him to hear, I locked my room and, for the first time in my married life, I cried. I cried my heart out, wondering why my father had arranged this marriage.

Naseer's P.O.V.
I heard her car pull into the driveway, I was struggling with the urge to break into her room and search her belongings, my frustration and avoidance of her growing every day , being around her felt like torment, as everything about her reminded me of someone I wanted to forget. Her scent, her back, her walk, her skin color – it was all too familiar, except for her face, which I hadn't given myself the chance to see because of the promise I had made to Aneesah.

I rushed down the stairs, checking the windows to make sure she was in her car, but I couldn't see her face. I had to get out of there before she came in, so I locked myself in my room.

Why are you doing this, Naseer? What is wrong with you? She's your wife, for heaven's sake!

I sighed and pulled the covers over my head. Moments later, I heard the door knob turning. I knew  it was her , it had to be her. I hissed and turned away.

She knocked again, this time louder, startling me. I decided to send her a message.

"Hey, are you ok?"

Her voice called from out side the door

That voice

Wait, it couldn't be her.

I heard a sigh and a faint bang, and I rushed to the door. She was now far away, and I could only see her back. I was too late.

Damnnnn.

I quickly returned to my room and dialed my best friend's number.

It can't be her.

How can it be?

He answered the call, teasing me as usual.
"Anyo , ka sha mai "

But I wasn't in the mood.

"Mahmud, you're never serious. Please come to my house; it's urgent," I told him before ending the call.
