NYIF 23: Running Away

Hindi ko alam kung ilang segundo ako nakatitig sa kanya. I blink my eyes. Pero wala pa ring nag-iiba. Haleth Aidian Alvarado is standing at the door.

"H-Hello." I nervously replied. Okay, he is my childhood friend--but we weren't close! He move overseas when we were six! I can't barely remember how he looks like when we were young!

"Fuck." I murmured.

Where the hell is Zale?! Bakit niya ako iniwan dito?

A small, smugging smile form in his lips. No wonder why he became my celebrity crush. He can make a person's knees weak through his fucking smile.

"So, you cursed." he commented. "That's not what Manager Michelle told me."

Kumunot ang noo ko. What? So, he remembered me. He remember that fucking-supposed-to-be-date?! And he didn't even bother to show up?!

"So, what?" hindi ko maiwasan hindi mainis. I hate it! Bigla nalang ako nainis sa kilos niya.

He made me wait for hours and then he has the guts to talk to me? Okay fine--nakakakilig rin naman ang pagkakakita niya sa akin, but then again, it's weird and creeping me out!

Umiling lang siya. Kitang-kita ko kung paano tumama ang dila niya sa pisngi. And fuck those goddesses and gods in Mount Olympus for creating this guy.

"Fiesty." aniya bago tumalikod.

"Hey!" I shouted bago pa siya tuluyang umalis.

He stop but he didn't face me.

Huminga ako ng malalim. "What you are doing are too creepy. Why the fuck are you here, Haleth?"

Hindi siya sumagot. Nanatili lang siyang tahimik. At sa bawat segundo na tumatakbo, kinakabahan ako. Mas lalong lumalamig ang clinic.

Yes. We are not close. Ganoon rin sila ni Zale. Kaya nakakapagtaka, dahil ang sobrang lalim nila dalawa kung makapagtitigan.

"Don't think something nasty. The nurse told me to look after you, because there's an emergency. That's all." he look at his shoulders for me to see his side face. "You're not special and worth of my time, you know?"

I clenched my jaw. Who is he, by the way?

"You should had just leave." I argued while gritting my teeth.

I hate it when someone belittles me.

"Can't." he replied as he walks away.

My forehead creassed as I got confused by his answer. Can't? He can't leave me? But why? Napahawak ako ng mahigpit sa kumot. I don't know why I feel so unconfortable around him. He has this intimidating aura, and I fucking hate it.

Pinakalma ko muna ang sarili ko bago tumayo. I look at the wall clock. It is already 1 pm. I really wonder, if Zale was really at the cafeteria, buying us some food?

Mas pinili ko ang umalis sa clinic. Dahil na rin siguro ay nagugutom na, dumeretso ako sa cafeteria. Pumila ako doon at bumili ng burger at hersheys na drink. Doon pa ako umupo sa malapit sa aircon.

I was silently eating my lunch, when I caught a familiar figure.

He was smiling from ear to ear while eating a lunch to a basketball player.

Fuck it.

Bigla akong nawalan ng gana.

I was about to stand up and leave the table when I heard him, calling my name.
