chapter 21

August 27th 1992

Lucy's POV:

I finished eating breakfast so I go back upstairs and get dressed then do my teeth and hair. I grab my plushie and doll to put it in my bag along with my mp3 player which I got yesterday and thanks to Rick I got loads of music on it.

"Lucy we gotta go" Janet calls, I grab my bag and run downstairs

"now can you tell me?" I smile as I put my coat on

"no, gotta wait until we're at the airport"

"fine" I huff and walk to the car, Janet giggles then gets in after me.

At the Airport

we arrive and as Janet is checking in I'm stood by Bill and a few others,  I look around and stare at the gigantic board of departures

"Texas?" I ask Bill

"nope"

"vegas?"

"hahaha, definitely no"

"Indiania?"

"no"

"ok ready?" Janet says as she gets back to us

"where are we going?" I ask

"it's terminal 7"

"hey my favourite number" I smile and looks at the departures "omg really?"

"where is it going?" she smiles

"the big apple" I smile brightly and pick up my bag "come on, we gotta go" I say as I start to walk off

"woah little lady, no need to rush off. it isn't leaving for another 2 hours"

"ugh, seriously?, what about the private jet? that leaves when we're ready"

"I know"

"so if we're getting a public one tell the pilot to hury up cause he's making me start my holiday late" I say and the majority of them laughs

"only kidding we're leaving in 20 minutes at terminal 19" Janet smiles

"come on then" I smile back

New York

I love this place, it's currently mid afternoon and we just got to our hotel suite. I put my bag down then I go and look out the window across the city. this place is even better than the pictures.

"right so we can visit one location/attraction before dinner" Janet smiles

"what about Statue of Liberty? then we can see the sunset too"

"that sounds fun, come on" she smiles then we leave. we get outside and the car waiting is a taxi, our driver is driving it of course but I still love it. I get inside and slide across to the other side then Janet gets in the middle whilst Paddy gets in next to her and Rick gets in the passenger side next to the driver. I keep my eyes out the window as we make our way there watching the life going on outside the taxi. we finally arrive now time for the 354 steps.

"who's ready?" Rick smiles

"me, last one up is a rotten egg" I smile and starts running up whilst counting. I stop when i say 38 to catch my breath,  I look and see the 40 step sign 2 steps ahead of me. man I'm not even half way there.

"thought you're gonna win" Janet laughs as they reach me

"just...stopping....for...a...breath" I say whilst trying to catch my breath

"think you mean stopping to catch my breath, anyway have some water" she laughs and hands me a bottle of water

"yeah that's what I meant" I say after I had some then we carry on going up.

"352, 353, and finally 354" I say as we reach the top and Paddy gets me off his shoulder, yes I did get a lift for the last few, ok since step 218. I go straight to the edge and looks out, I feel like I'm on top of the world up here. 

"we need pictures for your father" Janet says

"ok, come here then" I smile then we stand so the skyline is the background

"cheese" we both smile as Rick takes the picture

"omg Janet they got the missing head thingy one" I smile running over to the wooden cut out of Lady Liberty but the head is missing cause you stick your own head there.

6pm

the sun is now fully set which means gift shop time, I love getting stuff from the gift shop cause it's like memories, buying the things which will remind you of that visit.

"we need to get things for daddy too remember" I say

"I know sweetie" Janet smiles, we end up getting some frames for the photos we took, mini replica, a bear dressed up as the statue of liberty and I got the foam crown and torch thing which is awesome. for daddy we got him candy and the professional photos they took blown up on a canvas.

"ready for the steps down?" I smile

"going down is the easiest" Paddy laughs then we make our way down, once we reach outside we get in the ready waiting taxi and make our way back to the hotel, we take the things to our suite and goes down to the restaurant.

"what's the plan for tomorrow?" I smile as we wait for food

"whatever you want"

"hmmm, how about the subway station where bad was filmed?"

"sure, I haven't been there myself yet either" Janet smiles

August 28th 1992

last night was awesome and we got to see New York at night which was really pretty.

"hurry up Janet" I call whilst watching the tv

"alright alright" she laughs walking out of her bedroom

"finally" I smile turning the tv off

"come on then" she smiles grabbing her bag amd we finally leave

Hoyt-Schermerhorn Subway Station

"it's a bit busy" I laugh

"obviously" Bill laughs, I notice a sign and goes to read it

"yes, 20 minutes"

"until what?"

"the ticket things are closed to for maintenance"

"which means what exactly?" Paddy asks

"means we can do the bad pose" Janet smiles

"oh, alright then"

"Bill you better be good at taking photos"

"I am, don't you worry"

20 minutes later

Janet spoke to the staff and we're allowed to do the poses, Bill helps me up onto the center one

"I wasn't expecting it to be this high"

"imagine it at your dad's height then" Janet laughs

I bet daddy could touch the ceiling standing on here

"smile" Bill says and I show my best smile, after a few Janet joins in and as we're about to leave the staff tells us the whole station is closed so we can go to the other parts of the station too. we go to the parts of the station and I swear one of these poses he does he was imagining using a bow and arrow to hit something.

"come on then, they gotta re open and we got other attractions to visit" Janet says

"ok" I smile, we go and say thank you to the staff and then we leave.
