In the end, I sat alone.

A faint smile on my lips as I watched Ember and Mason run around chasing one another as the other kids quickly dropped their chores behind to join them.

I even smiled at the sight of Reds swollen stomach.

Though we took many precautions, we were going to have another child. Something that Mason and Ember were ecstatic about.

It hadn't been easy to get his far, but as I looked around, I know that all the lives we've lost and gained, had been for this.

Everyone paused in their jobs, watching the children run around happily.

This is what we had fought so long for.

Each of these children were innocent in the ways of this new world. They all had training with weapons, they knew how to hide since the moment they could walk, and they all were smiling happily.

We found plenty of people alone, fearful of us when we stumbled into each other's paths. We've met strong, courageous people who stood their ground against us, willing to fight us if we were deemed a threat.

Most importantly, we've come across older siblings doing anything to protect the only people they had left. Much like I was. But now we have each other.

We were all family.
