*Alexandra*

After I left Lisa's house the sun was starting to set so I quickly went back home. I still wanted to show Avery her present before it got to dark.

I got home in a few minutes time and walked inside straight to the living room where Avery sat, watching TV.

She looked over the back of the couch and asked, "Hey, what did you do today? I'm assuming paperwork."

"Actually, I was at Lisa's," I answered her.

"You've been spending quite a lot of time there. Did you take my advice into consideration?" she said with a smug look on her face.

I shook my head and chuckled as I walked closer to the couch. I sat down next to her and asked,"So what are you doing tonight?"

She pulled up her shoulders and tilted her head to the side, "I don't know. I have a little bit of work to do but I'll do it tomorrow. Why do you ask?"

"I actually want to show you something. It's something for you. "

Her eyes went wide and a smile appeared on her. She got off the couch and said, "I'll quickly get my shoes." Then she ran to her room.

I got up, walked to the front door and I quickly made sure that the keys to her present were still in my back pocket.

Avery came back down the stairs and I asked, "Would you like to drive?"

She shook her head and said, "I think you should drive, I'm to excited. I might not keep the car on the road."

I laughed at what she said and walked out the door, Avery following behind me. We walked down the concrete path to th driveway, the Land Rover was already standing outside so I unlocked it, opened the door and got in the driver's seat. Avery was in the passenger's seat a few seconds later.

I started the car and drove down the gravel driveway and through the big iron gates. As we drove down the road people waved and bowed their heads in respect. Avery rolled down her window and smiled and waved back at everyone, something she always did when we drove together.

When we were out of the suburb Avery rolled her window back up and looked in front of her. She was lightly  tapping her finger on her leg probably because was excited.

When we were getting closer I told her, "We're almost there, but you have to close your eyes. You can't see it just yet."

"Alexandra, I'm eighteen not five. Why can't I see it yet?" She asked giving me a pleading look.

"I know you're eighteen, but I could always turn the car around and you can see it on you're actual birthday," I told her then I heard her sigh, muttering a 'fine' and closed her eyes.

I turned off the road and onto another gravel driveway which lead to the house. I stopped in front of it and said, "We're here, but don't open your eyes yet. I'll tell you when."

She nodded her head and giggled. I got out and walked around to her side, opened her door and helped her out. I lead her down the concrete path  and stopped a few feet away from the front of the house.

I took the keys out of my pocket. "Avery, put your hand out in front of you, palm facing up." She did as I said and I put the keys on her hand. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but she didn't say anything. Then I finally said, "Open your eyes."

She opened her eyes and looked up at the house and she gave a soft gasp in surprise. Then she looks at me, there was a childish gleam in her forest green eyes and a big smile on her face.

Then she asked pointing a finger at the house, "Is-- Is that mine?" And I laughed at her innocence. Avery has always been the most humble person I've ever met. She wasn't one for big presents or outrageous parties. But I think it's time for her to be rewarded for her kindness.

"Well, let's see... I bet belongs to the one who has the key, " I said sarcasticly just to mess with her.

She started to laugh and gave me a hug. Then she started softly sobbing, she pulled away. Her cheeks were red and stained with tears, but she was still smiling.

I gave her a confused look, then she said,"Thank you." I gave her smile and pulled her in for another hug.

"Now, how about we go check out the inside," I said pulling away. Avery turned around and walked to the front door. She unlocked it and we went inside.

I showed her all the rooms, the kitchen and the two living rooms. Then we came to the last room which I was really excited for. When I opened the door I stepped aside so Avery could go in.

Once again she gave a small gasp at the little room I had incorporated for her.

The room was painted a light lavender purple with little gold designs painted by hand. There were shelves against the walls, one side was lined with jars of paint and on the other side every paintbrush you could imagine. At the back of the room stood an easel already holding a blank canvas, ready to be painted on. Lastly there was a big window overlooking the forest.

Avery looked back at me, a big smile on her face. She then said, "You really did think of everything, didn't you?"

"What's the point you want to study art and you don't even have a space to practise?" I asked her.

She shrugged and said, "It's not just this room. I'm talking about the little library downstairs, the balcony just outside the main room that looks over the landscape, the nursery we walked past on our way here... Shall I continue," she mused as we stood in the art room.

"Okay, okay, you've caught me red handed. It's just over the years you've mentioned all these little details and I couldn't just ignore them," I told her honestly and she just giggled.

We went back downstairs. I took out my phone and looked at the time, it was 19:30 so it was already dark out.
Then I told Avery, "We better get going it's getting late."

She gave me a smile and said, "I think I'll be staying here for tonight. If you don't mind of course. I'd really like to explore a bit on my own."

"Well, I don't mind, but are you sure you'll be alright on your own?" I asked her and she nodded.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Knowing you there will most probably be a security sistem of some sort and I know how to protect myself for your information," she said crossing her arms over her chest.

"Alright, if you say so, but just incase..."

I gave her all the keys she needed and told her,"The sistem monitor is in the library which doubles as a safety bunker and you're car is in the garage."

She rolled her eyes and said,"Of course it doubles as a bunker."

I got back in the car and started it, Avery stood outside and waved. I just nodded before I pulled away driving out of the gates back home.

When I got home I felt a little alone, but for some reason it kind of normal. Maby it felt like that because I was use to being alone.

Avery won't be there anymore to keep me company, but I knew this day would come sooner or later. But now she could start her own life in her own home and that's what mattered most. Her being happy.
