I immediately got out of the car and ran to Conner. It was something that I had never seen before. His face was reddened with blood, but you could still see bruises underneath. His wrist was bent in a position it should never be bent in.

"Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. This isn't good. What do I do?" I started to panic. His eyes were closed, obviously meaning he had passed out sometime after running away. Tears were running out of my eyes at fast rates. Thankfully, I could still see his chest rising up and down, but it was slowly decreasing. I quickly got out my phone and dialed 911.

"911. What is your emergency?" The operator answered.

"Please come quick. My friend is unconscious and hurt."

"Alright, ma'am. Stay calm. Where are you?"

"On the corner of Abbington Street."

"An ambulance is on their way." I quickly hung up and turned my attention back to Conner. It was starting to become hard to see his chest rising and falling. I didn't know what to do. I had missed the class of first aid in health.

The sound of distant sirens filled the silence, and I was finally able to let out a breath. It wasn't long before I was able to see the lights of the ambulance and they were parked right next to us.

As they jumped out of the ambulance they immediately started asking questions. "How long has been unconscious?" "Do you know how he got these injuries?"

"I just got here," I answered.  They nodded before putting him on the gurney and taking him to the ambulance. I wasn't allowed to ride in the back, as my car was still in the middle of the road, and I did not have any relations to him other than him being my friend.

As I followed the ambulance, I started to realize nobody knew where I was. Cody knew that I was going to find Conner, but he didn't know exactly where I was, or that I was going to the hospital. I needed to call someone, but I didn't want to get into an accident.

It wasn't long before we pulled up and they rushed him inside. I took that time to pull out my phone and call someone. The first name that popped up was my mother so I called her. It rang three times before she answered.

"Hello?" She sounded annoyed that I was calling, which actually wasn't anything new. I seemed to annoy her a lot of the time.

"I'm at the hospital." I didn't beat around the bush. I just straight out told her. It wouldn't do Conner any good if I beat around the bush.

"Why?" Was her immediate response. She yelled something to someone in the background, and I could hear doors opening and closing.

"Conner got hurt." I quickly responded. Before I could say anything else, she hung up. I put my phone away and rushed to the desk.

"Hello. How may I help you?" She asked with a bright smile on her face.

"Do you know what room Conner Bakely is in? He was just brought in a few minutes ago."

"I can look that up for you." A few seconds later she looked back up from her computer. "May I ask what your relation to him is?"

"He's um.. m-my....boyfriend? Yeah, he's my boyfriend." I couldn't help but stutter. Even though we had kissed a few times, we had never actually said if we were boyfriend or girlfriend before. It felt weird to say it out loud in front of people.

"He is in room 219. You might have to wait a while before going in." She answered, giving me a huge smile. I thanked her and rushed to his room. I was just praying that he was okay. We hadn't known each other for that long, but I still couldn't help but hope there could be something more in the future for us. I probably sounded like a hopeful lost teenage girl, which I was, but I couldn't help but care about him.

As soon as I got to the door, it was opened by the doctor. He looked at me for a second before speaking. "He is asleep right now, so please be quiet. He has suffered some brain damage, and his arm and leg are entirely broken." Before I could respond, he was walking away. I rushed into Conner's room to see him hooked up to multiple machines. He was peacefully sleeping, but yet he still looked like he was in pain (that made zero sense!)

It wasn't long before my parents, Cody and Jane rushed into the room. The started to bombard me with questions one after another, not giving me time to respond to any of them.

"Ughh." Was heard from behind us. I immediately turned to Conner, just in time to see him open his eyes before he shut them again. I ran over to his side and took his hand.

"Conner, if you can hear me please open your eyes again." I pleaded. It took him a few seconds before he opened his eyes one more time. "Thank god." I breathed. He was still blinking repeatedly, but at least they were open.

"What the hell happened Conner?" Cody was the first one to question him. My mother and father were standing in the corner, not really looking at him. Jane was on her phone, probably texting her boyfriend.

"H-he..." His voice was raspy when he spoke, and it sounded like he was in pain. I grabbed the water from the bedside table and handed it to him, but his hands were too shaky to pick up the glass. I rolled my eyes playfully and put the straw in his mouth.

"Conner, son if you could just try to tell us what happened one more time?"

"H-he hit me. Badly this time." He muttered. My mother's eyes filled with tears, but Cody and my father looked like they wanted to hit something. Jane, I could tell, was in shock. I wasn't as shocked as I thought I would've been. Cody had told me the story, so I guess that was part of the reason.

"I think you should come live with us again." My mother commented, breaking the silence that had followed.

"I told you guys. I don't want to break the family apart by me having feelings for Erika." He answered. My heart swelled and I smiled down at him. He looked at me and smiled back, taking my hand in his.

"Conner. You are absolutely insane if you think we are going to make you move back there with that horrendous creature, just because you are a human being with feelings." I could tell my mother was getting angry. Her face was starting to get red, and her fists were clenching and unclenching.

"Emma, it is sweet of you to offer, but I really don't want to cause any drama in the family."

"Can't be much worse than the drama that is already affecting the family," I mumbled, but my father somehow still heard me, and he glared.

"Conner, there is no discussion. As soon as you are released from this hospital, you are moving back in with us. And this time you will have your own room." He opened his mouth to respond, but my mother gave him the look. I smiled in jubilance. Everything was starting to become okay. At least that's what I thought.
