When I woke up the next morning, the terrible feeling was back but it was much worse. My head was pounding, my throat felt sore and scratchy, my nose was stuffed, and my stomach was churning once again. I didn't want to get up, but it was the day that I was finally going back to school.

As I stood up, a wave of dizziness fell over me, making me almost fall. I grabbed the side of the nightstand, using it to keep me steady and upright. Jane was still sound asleep in the bed next to me, unaware of the sickness I felt. I finally made it to the door and opened it. The light in the hallway worsened my headache, but I managed to make it the bathroom. I popped an Advil, brushed my hair and teeth, and got ready.

As I was walking down the stairs, the clanging in the kitchen worsened my headache even more, which made the churning of my stomach worsen as well. All in all, I felt like complete and utter shit. I couldn't even breathe out of my nose to try and calm my stomach. The smell as I walked into the room, didn't help at all. It just made everything worse.

"Good morning, Erika." My father greeted, looking up from his paper for just a second.

"Morning, "I mumbled sitting down. I put my face to the table, feeling the coldness of it against my face.

"Good morning." Conner greeted walking into the room. My mother and father greeted him back, but I couldn't bring myself to even open my mouth, afraid of something coming up if I did. "Are you feeling okay, Erika?" He questioned, I guess noticing my quietness.

I nodded and looked at him. His eyebrows were furrowed in concern as he was searching my eyes. He opened his mouth but was cut off by Cody walking into the room.

"Ugh! Why does a girl need to take so long in the bathroom?!" He yelled. "What could she possibly doing in there that it takes an hour?" He ranted. "You do your hair and brush your teeth! There's nothing else to do!" He finally sat down, but he let out a sigh as he did.

"Cody, she's a girl and she likes to put on makeup." My mother replied rolling her eyes. My eyes were closed and I was almost asleep when the door opened and slammed behind it.

"Emma!" A voice yelled. I could tell it was my aunt Emily. She was known for showing up unannounced whenever she wanted. Ever since her divorce with Brody, she was alone which meant she turned to us. We actually hadn't seen her in a while.

"Emily! What are you doing here?" My mother yelled back, probably running to give her twin sister a hug.

"I just thought I would show up and say hi to my family. Tell them the amazing news!" I slowly opened my eyes to see Emily sitting down and Conner still looking at me concerned.

"Well, spill the beans. What's the amazing news?" My father asked.

"I have found someone! By the way, who are you?" She turned to Conner and fixed him with a glare.

"I'm Conner. I've been staying here for personal reasons." He answered not looking away from me.

"Well, welcome to the family! Anyways, as I was saying, I have found someone! His name is Chase, and get this. He is a social worker! How cool is that? I've never been with a social worker before!" She yelled.

"Just be careful Emily. You don't want another Brody incident." My mother warned. Emily rolled her eyes but nonetheless nodded.

"Are you feeling okay, Erika? You look really pale?" She questioned turning to me. I nodded and opened my mouth to say something, but was cut off by Jane running into the room.

"Aunt Emily!" She screamed, running to give her a hug. My stomach churned violently, and I had to swallow hard to get it down.

"How's one of my favorite nieces doing?"

"Great. My boyfriend gave me something the other day. A ring!" She yelled.

"What?!" Cody, father, and mother yelled.

"Not that type of ring! A promise ring!" She beamed. I inwardly rolled my eyes. I was tired of hearing about her boyfriend. He wasn't good for her, but I didn't want to tell her that. She would start hating me even more.

I couldn't keep it down anymore. I sprinted up the stairs into the bathroom, forgetting to lock it. I could hear the questions from everyone downstairs, but I couldn't bring myself to even care.

I barely leaned over the toilet when everything was rushing back up. Conner was the first one there, and he rubbed my back and held back my hair. It was sweet of him to do.

Once everything was done, he helped me brush my teeth once again and brought me to my room.

"Are you feeling better now?" He asked. I shook my head.

"Why didn't you tell us you were feeling sick?" My mother questioned. I shrugged and looked over at Conner.

"She got sick last night too." He commented.

"We will talk about that later. For now, get some rest. You can go back to school when you're feeling better." As soon as everyone left, I was deep asleep.
