Erika's P.O.V.

Everyone always wonders what it would be like to die. The truth is, we will never know the answer. When someone dies they don't come back. You can't ask them what they went through. It's just the way life works. I hadn't really put much thought into dying before. I thought that I would live the normal time a human being would. However, God works in mysterious ways and when it's our time, it's our time.

I was half-way awake after I was shot. I could hear everything but I couldn't reply or do anything. I was just sitting there like a vegetable. I could hear the beeps to my right as my heart kept beating and my lungs kept me breathing. However, I will never forget hearing the long continuous beep as the door opened and multiple pairs of footsteps were heard.

"Doctor, there's nothing wrong with her! Her heart is still beating but the heart monitor just stopped working correctly." I heard a female voice comment.

"I don't know why it just suddenly stopped working. It was working just fine before." The doctor mumbled as he continued to prod me like I was a piece of meat.

They poked the inside of my elbow, my most ticklish spot, which made my arm twitch. "Sir, I think she's waking up!" Another voice yelled. "Miss, can you hear me?"

"Uggh." I groaned opening my eyes. The light was very bright and there were unfamiliar faces all around me. Everyone around me was talking, making it almost impossible to understand anything anyone was saying. The voices mixed together creating a blob of voices.

"Erika!" It was the first familiar voice I heard, and it was the only voice I could make out. I slightly turned my head to the right to see Conner and Cody standing there with smiles on their faces. My parents were right behind them with tears streaming down their faces. I wasn't surprised that I didn't see Jane. I didn't even know if I wanted to see her.

"Miss Heart, do you feel any pain anywhere?" A doctor questioned as he checked my vitals and everything else. I shook my head and he slightly smiled at me.

"Mr. and Mrs. Heart, may I speak to both of you outside?" He left the room, along with all the other nurses and doctors, allowing Cody and Conner to sprint into the room. Cody got to me first, engulfing me in a bear hug. I could feel some tears fall onto my shirt, but apparently, he didn't seem to notice or care.

"I'm so glad you're okay." He whispered in my ear. He pulled away smiling, gesturing to Conner that it was okay to hug me. Conner didn't waste any time pulling me into a hug. Much like Cody, Conner was crying. It broke my heart to see them cry.

"I missed seeing your beautiful eyes, and your gorgeous smile." He muttered. I didn't know if I was supposed to hear it or not so I didn't say anything. I just smiled at him. Suddenly the doctor came in with my parents behind him, none of them had smiles on their faces.

Cody immediately noticed their frowns and frowned back at them. "What's wrong? Why are none of you smiling?" He questioned coming back to my side. Conner pulled back and went to my other side.

"I  am sorry to say this but seeing as Miss Heart suffered from bleeding in the brain there are going to be some complications. We want someone around her all the time in case something happens."

"What do you mean by 'complications'?" Cody asked.

"If she doesn't eat healthy and exercise regularly, she could experience some random fainting spells, or maybe even some seizures." He explained. I looked around the room to see everyone's reactions, and they all had tears in their eyes.

"Thank you doctor. When will she be able to go home?"

"We want her to stay here for a few more days until we know there won't be anymore bleeding in the brain." He left the room leaving me with hugs and tears.
