Dear Philip,
You've got so much potential.
I may be a little bit biased when I tell you this—mostly because I like to think I helped teach you pretty much everything you know—but I know that you're gonna do whatever you want to do.
Watching you grow and learn and develop your skill level has filled me with nothing but pride.
You're gonna do amazing things, kid.
I know that for the longest time, you've been obsessed with becoming just like John, but you could be so much better than he was.
You're one of the most passionate people I know. All you lack is the confidence.
But Philip, I want you to know that if later on, if you ever doubt yourself, I believe in you no matter what.
I also want you to know that it doesn't matter who your parents are, and that it doesn't matter if you don't know yourself.
You are so much more than your past.
I believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to.
I'm so proud of you, Philip. And no matter what happens, I will always be proud of you. And I really don't think I can emphasize how proud I am of you.
Thank you.
Your friend,
Thomas Jefferson
