I stood in my kitchen cutting up veg and such for a stew for bill and his kids tonight, as I did I saw just across the way whitey going out to his horse getting it ready to go looking...sheepish consonantly checking over his shoulder in case someone was behind him or watching him so I cleaned my hands and went out to him

"Hi whitey" I said making him jump out of his skin grabbing his horse tightly a he jumped turning to see me

"Ohh! it's you Maggie... ya scared the bloody shit outta me" he complains getting his breath

"Where are ya going?" I ask him

"Ohh... nowhere" He blushed fixing his hair "just goin' for a ride" He answers

"Alright Whitey" I nod going back to cooking up dinner I stood watching as he finished sorting his horse and went off out of town still checking more carefully this time if someone was going to be following him or sneaking up on him.

I sat outside in the lantern light as the sun set over the hills across the way hours ago, I had just got back from the bar with the other ladies, when I heard the familiar sound of horse shoes coming into town so I stood and looked it was whitey coming back at such an ungodly hour

"where have you been?" I ask him

"Humm? I went for a ride" he blushed slowing his horse to stop by my house

"Where?" I ask

"where?" he asked me back and I nodded "Down uhh the river," he answered clearly lieing to me

"The river?" I ask and he nods "Come down here" I tell him so he got off his horse and stood close to me fixing his hair and holding his hand on his neck I looked him over he had missed a button in doing up his shirt making the whole thing asche and he wasn't like that when he left, his cheeks had much more colour in, and he was holding his neck in a death like grip...like he was hiding something from me "Ya got somethin' there whitey?" I ask

"what?" he asked in shock taken back by the question

"Show me your neck whitey" I tell him and he froze

"uhh why?" he asked me

"Shouldn't be a problem...if your not hiding anything" I smirk at him and he gulped "So?" I ask and he sighed moving his hand away "and what is that?" I ask looking at the little purple mark on his neck surrounded by little red ones

"A bruise!" he insisted "I fell off my horse... down by the wood" He says

"i thought you went to the river whitey?" I ask trying to get a better look at the mark

"I- I did! then I went to the woods.... uhhhh Bye!" he says before quickly running off home with his horse.

"Bill" I yell as I waked in the office waking him up

"ohh...what is it Maggie?" he asked

"I or you need to have a word with your deputy boy" I tell him

"Ohh what's he done now?" he asks

"I don't know" I sigh

"so...why are you talking to him?" he asks

"Because I think we need to know what he's up to" I sigh

"What do you think he's up to?" he asks

"Well, he's secretly riding out of town at strange hours only to arrive home ludicrous hours in the night, with marks on his neck and face I wanna know what he's up to" I explain

"Ask him" he sighed

"I try, he just blushes like an idiot, and runs away" I sigh

"Well... why not follow him?" He asks.

"What are we doing?" Callie Dunne complains as we followed whitey's horse

"Seeing where he's going" I answer

"why? can't you just leave whitey to his secrets... maybe he just likes going for rides" she sighs "maybe he takes care of a old lady or something?" she suggests "Or a puppy?" she asks "or maybe he has a girlfriend?" he says

"Maybe," I shrug as suddenly he stopped and got off his horse sitting by the river we sat away from him trying to keep quiet and hidden as he sat waiting till we saw a horse on the horizon and a girl jumped off in her little dress

"whitey!" she giggles

"Y/n!" he smiles hugging her tightly and lustfully kissing her within seconds they where wrapped up together on the ground by the river bank

"Whitey!" I yell going over making them both stop and pull away

"Maggie! Callie!" he yells getting up and sorting himself out trying to almost hide this y/n girl "I was....uhhhhhh" He stuttered

"I was right, A girlfriend" Callie laughed

"Fine, you just don't need to sneak around, bring her to your place so you don't have to keep sneaking out" I laugh as me and Callie headed home.
