Ted "Theodore" Logan- Late Night

"Duuuuuuuuuddddeeee." My head slowly lifted to look at Ted, then I looked over to the chair near the wall only to see Bill beyond passed out. Ted was now whispering so that he didn't wake Bill, "We've been doing this foreeeevvvveeeerr." I roll my eyes at his exaggeration, but mid eye roll, I yawned and stretched out.
"What time is it anyway?" I didn't really ask Ted, just said it out loud. Me and Ted both looked at the clock and it read '3:46 am'. This late? Already? Time goes by fast honestly.
I look over at Ted who doesn't seem so much as tired as he does bored. It was the weekend, who cares how late we stay up? I put away my chemistry textbook and the worksheet we were supposed to be working on. Ted and Bill asked me to help them in passing their classes. I just thought they meant some of them, but no, they meant all of their classes. It's taken hours just to get them halfway caught up.
I sighed and stood up on Bill's bed. I pointed at Ted and my next few words came out in a whisper just loud enough for him to hear me, "We are out of here, man. We're going to go do something fun!" Ted's face lit up at that proposal.
"Really dude! Hell yeah! We're outta here!" Me and Ted quickly pushed all of our books into our bags and tip toed out of Bill's room. Yeah, he was a goner for the night.
"So, where to first?" I looked over to Ted as we walked further and further from Bill's house. Tomorrow, or later that day technically, we could continue where we left off.
Ted looked at me for a moment before shrugging. "Dude, I don't know. No places are open this late." Ted looked a bit bummed, and I felt a bit sorry. Then, I got an idea.
"Hey, I have an idea!" Ted looked back at me in curiosity. "How about we have a picnic!"
Ted excitedly nodded and we decided to get the blanket and basket from my house and then get the food from his. It was hard to keep quiet in both of our houses. I definitely didn't want to wake up my super strict parents, who only let me go to Bill's house because they liked Missy and knew Ted's dad, and Ted didn't want to wake up his dad, I think a military school lecture wouldn't be preferred from either of us.
We walked all the way to a park and found a place deeper into the wooded area that surrounds the back half of it. We set up and then sat on the cactus blanket that I brought.
"This is stellar!" Ted was looking up at the stars in amazement. I couldn't help but stare at him. Then it happened. I could feel myself falling uncontrollably in just a few seconds. In all of my time with hanging out with Bill and Ted, I've always seen them as some pair of dudes I could be myself around, but seeing Ted like this.. it was a new feeling.
"Yeah, it's really something, huh?" I smiled and looked up at the sky. I took in a deep breath before slowly letting it go.
"Well, I'm starved! What's to eat?" Ted opened the picnic basket and I looked over at him. What was I supposed to do now? How am I supposed to act with these newly discovered feelings? I guess normal?
I pulled out the two bags of chips, grapes, a whole pack of cookies (Ted wouldn't settle for just five or six cookies in a baggie), and six sandwiches (also his idea, but I'm not complaining about food). I chuckled as we looked at all the food we packed, "Oh yeah, a real all you can eat buffet." Ted snickered at my comment and it made my heart flutter. This was so weird. I took another quiet, deep breath to steady my mind. I've had crushes before, this is no different!
"Well babe, let's dive in!" I nodded and slowly took a few bites of one of the sandwiches and tried not to choke on it while laughing at Ted shoving multiple cookies in his mouth. "How does that sandwich taste?" He was looking at my sandwich with the most intense look.
"Oh hell no, you are not taking this sandwich too. There are five others!" Ted was starting to grow a devious smile.
"Oh, but I want that one." He quickly pounced on me and I had no time to prepare for his attack, so I quickly grabbed the bag it was in and shoved the hand with the sandwich in. That was all I could do before he was on top of me, wrestling to get the sandwich. "Give it here!"
"No! It's mine!" We we're both laughing as Ted and I wrestled for the sandwich. Him being bigger than me though gave him a slight advantage. He was able to roll me over and straddled me. We were both out of breath and laughing so hard that we had our eyes closed. I was the first one to open my eyes. I hadn't realized how close he was to me. My heart was now beating fast due to his face being mere inches from mine.
Ted opened his eyes and looked at me. We did that for a few seconds, just sitting there looking at each other. On autopilot, I leaned up and kissed him. It was just a quick peck on the lips. Once I put my head back down on the ground, my whole face turned red with realization of what I just did. "Oh, my, god.." I spoke under my breath.
Ted was still looking at me. He touched his lips and looked a surprised. "You totally just kissed me."
"Yeah, oh my god. I'm sorry, I don't know what I was doing. It was the momen-"
Ted cut me off by pulling me into another kiss, causing my breath to hitch in surprise. The kiss lasted a few more seconds than the last, and I don't think my face has ever felt so red and hot.
Ted pulled away and I was quickly missing his lips again. He had a huge dorky smile decorticating his face now and it caused me to giggle. "What Ted? Why are you smiling like that?"
"Because this is most triumphant." When I gave him a confused look, he looked at me, still with that smile. "I've totally been waiting forever to kiss you or something. You have no idea how hard it has been to hide my most pure feelings for you. It's been bogus seeing you every day and not being able to confess to you."
He's had feelings for me? I couldn't help but smile and started to sit up. Ted got off of me and we looked at each other.
"Then, let's consider this a first date." I finished off my sandwich and moved the food back into the basket before laying on the blanket. "But I am most definitely too tired to walk back home." Ted nodded in agreement and laid next to me.
He gently brushed his finger against my hand and I wondered if he was nervous to hold my hand. I gently grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers together, and gave a soft squeeze. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when I felt him squeeze back. I most definitely couldn't keep my eyes open now. As I drifted off, Ted put his arm under my neck and pulled me closer.
I buried my face lazily into his chest and mumbled a 'goodnight'. I smiled as he did the same before going to sleep. Ted was right, this was most triumphant for both of us.
