Sticks and stones

Trigger: bullying.

As if words didn't hurt more than the stones they threw
Every word was a dent in the person I called me
So I could never be me again
When peoples say the saying have they been hurt too?
By words you never thought could hurt you
But they dig deeper, and deeper
Till you were numb to the feeling
So used to the feeling that it barely there
Only a sting
And by the time you enter high school
It pales in comparison to the hurt you went through
New words that dug but only the surface
They only went over the scars
Didn't cause much harm
Until one day someone close
Says something wrong
And it's like they dug a finger in your scars
And so you fade, fade into the background
Letting your heart take the damage again and again
Until it was beaten and sore
Like warriors of a war that's been lost
Tired, beaten, angry
