I realised, watching you
Walk, talk, move
I looked into your eyes and
Seeing the dizzying array of stars
A whole galaxy within your eyes
The multiple layers of colour within
And the random speckles of freckles
Across your cheeks
And how your shoulders are a whole head above mine
The short spikes of your hair
And the teased colour but from which
I found pretty
Like your quiet nature, often silent
But daring to stand for yourself
This is not a love poem
As I don't love you, but I've adopted you
Into those I hold close
And protect whole heartedly_______________________________
