y/n: "I'm gonna take a nap."
cousin: "In public?"
y/n: "No one cares when you're at an airport."
cousin: "Fine. I'll shake you when she's here."
y/n: "Sure."
(silence)
cousin: (shakes)
y/n: "I'm pretty sure I slept for just 30 seconds."
cousin: "She's here!"
y/n: "Oh." (stands up) "Hello!"
girl: "Um--"
cousin: "You must be Hueningkai! My name is [Cousin] and this is my cousin, [y/n]. We're so happy to be your host family for the school year!"
girl: "I--"
cousin: "We've got everything set up at our place. My parents are so ex--"
man: "[Girl]! Over here!"
(silence)
girl: "...I'm sorry, I'm not who you're looking for. My dad is over there. He's picking me up."
cousin: "O-oh. I'm so sorry."
girl: "It's okay."
[GIRL leaves]
cousin: "Weird. I could've sworn it was her. She looked right at us and everything."
y/n: "Maybe she's just running a little la--"
unknown: "Hello."
[COUSIN & Y/N turn around]
cousin: "Hi..."
unknown: "It's nice to meet you."
cousin: "Um..."
y/n: "No, sorry, you must have us mixed up with someone else. We're waiting for our foreign exchange student, Hue--"
hueningkai: "--ningkai, from South Korea. I know. You're [cousin] and [y/n], right?"
y/n: "...yes."
hueningkai: "Then, I have the right people."
cousin: "You're Hueningkai?"
hueningkai: "That's me."
y/n: "But... I mean, you're... a boy?"
hueningkai: "Last time I checked, yeah."
y/n: "I'm sorry, I could have sworn the Host Program told us you were a girl."
hueningkai: "...seriously?"
y/n: "Seriously."
cousin: "Oh man... okay. Let's all think. I mean, you're here now, right? There's nothing we can do about it."
y/n: "We can call the Host Program and ask how they could be so blind?"
hueningkai: "Wow."
y/n: "What?"
hueningkai: "Are you always this harsh right off the bat?"
y/n: "I'm shocked. There's a difference."
hueningkai: "Really? I couldn't tell."
y/n: "Look, it's nothing personal but I don't think my uncle will feel comfortable having a random boy live with us under our roofs."
hueningkai: "I'm not random. You're holding a sign with my name on it, aren't you?"
y/n: "Yes."
hueningkai: "And you're expecting a South Korean foreign exchange student, right?"
y/n: "Well, yes, but--"
hueningkai: "It's not my fault that the Host Program made some faulty gender mistake. I have my identification for proof if you want it. I just got off a thirteen hour flight. And don't worry, you have nothing to be anxious about. You're not my type."
y/n: (jaw drops) "Who said I wanted to be your type?
hueningkai: "You implied--"
y/n: "I didn't imply any--"
cousin: "O-kaaay, then! Let's all calm down and sort this out at home. Hueningkai, I do think it'd give me peace of mind to see your ID and whatnot."
y/n: (glares)
hueningkai: (smiles) "Sure, no problem."
cousin: "You speak English well."
hueningkai: "I'm half-Korean. My dad and sisters speaks English."
cousin: "Makes sense. Okay, let's get going."
y/n: "Wait, that's it?"
cousin: "Look at his identification for yourself. It's really him."
hueningkai: "Like I said."
cousin: "Let's go."
y/n: "Let's call your mom first, at least."
cousin: "Fine, calling her right now."
hueningkai: "Do you really think I'm a serial killer or something?"
y/n: "I never said you were a serial killer. Why, are you?"
hueningkai: "I like cereal but I wouldn't kill for it."
y/n: "Oh god..."
cousin: "Okay, I spoke with Mom. She said she's calling the Host Program now. In the meantime, let's all go home. Her orders."
y/n: "But--"
cousin: "Her orders, not mine."
hueningkai: "Great."
[HUENINGKAI walks ahead]
y/n: (whispers) "What about your dad?"
cousin: "I've got it all under control. Relax."
